If Stewart, Houston, & Perry counties in TN are anything to go by, the most likely pattern would be:

Wallace-McGovern-Carter-Carter-Mondale-Dukakis-Clinton-Clinton-Gore-Kerry-McCain-Romney-Trump.

I would tend to agree with the above post. Wallace managed to be the most successful third party Southern candidate by combining two previously opposed strands within the Southern Democrats: the populist, New Deal vote in the upcountry and the staunch reactionary, race-obsessed vote in the lowlands. It is the former who formed most of the Wallace-McGovern vote and probably remained Democratic until Obama.

Wallace-McGovern voters pretty much voted Democratic for life. Presumably every now and then some jumped ship, especially in 2008, but to be fair I suspect that by the mid-2000's the majority of them had died.
