How do you think the 2020 election would have looked if Sanders won the primary and picked Karen Bass as his running mate. I think he'd be leading simply due to fundamentals, but doing worse than Biden




This is my guess, I think Sanders would still be favored, but not by nearly as much as Biden, and that the race could swing towards Trump if the fundamentals got better for him.

Anyone who predicts a Trump win after COVID needs a pie in the face, and not one they like. Don't waste our time rationalizing it either.

The House probably elects Trump, as Republicans still have a majority of state delegations, but  I can see Bass being elected Vice President in the Senate.

In the absence of COVID, Trump wins. With it, Bernie wins but his ceiling is lower than Biden's.

With COVID? Sanders/Bass wins. Probably doesn't get past 300 EVs though. Without COVID? Trump/Pence win, Sanders flips Michigan and MAYBE Wisconsin.

Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) / Congresswoman Karen Bass (D-CA) ✓
Fmr. Mayor Michael Bloomberg (I-NY) / Congressman Justin Amash (I-MI)

Sanders' strong showing with Mexican-Americans in the primaries and calls for change from the black community this summer lead me to believe his path would have actually been the Sun Belt. A third party run would hurt both tickets, primarily Sanders up north and Trump down south.

Inb4 angry reply with twenty recommendations from the rest of the echo chamber
