President Joe Biden announces in January 2023 that he will not seek re-election in 2024, & incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris runs to succeed him. She faces only one other major candidate in the primaries: Senator Elizabeth Warren.

What do you think the primary would look like? Which candidate do you think would win?

Are Schumer and Durbin still the highest ranking Senate Democrats in this scenario?

Yes, they become Senate Majority Leader & Whip - respectively - after this year's elections & remain as such following the midterms.

I don't Warren would challenge Kamala, actually.

If such a challenge happened, I think Warren wins Iowa and New Hampshire and loses pretty much everywhere else.
