Fred Guttenberg is the father of Jaime Guttenberg, one of the victims of the Parkland shooting. He has become a prominent gun control activist. Do you think he’d be a good Democratic candidate for a U.S. Senate seat in Florida in the future? He’d essentially be the Florida Dems’ answer to Mark Kelly.

Honestly, if Florida Democrats are going to pull the Parkland card in terms of statewide candidates, they should just wait until David Hogg is old enough to run.

He did say he was going to run for the House when he turned 25...he just didn't say in what district, or what state for that matter.

He's fully supportive of David Jolly's potential Senate candidacy, so no, he doesn't seem to have any interest in running himself.

[David Hogg] did say he was going to run for the House when he turned 25...he just didn't say in what district, or what state for that matter.

Presumably, he'd run for FL-22 if/when a vacancy ever arises, be it from Deutch retiring, seeking higher office, etc.

Deutch honestly seems like someone who will be there for a long time, so a vacancy would take a while to open.

Hogg is the worst possible candidate for political office from the Parkland survivors and families. He's used his platform to become an unapologetic socialist for whom gun control is only a small part of his platform. That's his right, of course, but he won't play statewide in Florida at all.

Guttenberg is a very impressive and passionate man, but the only two issues he's focused on are gun control and getting rid of Trump. I don't know if he'll be able to develop a portfolio of issues that will get him elected, but he'd be far from the worst candidate the Dems could put up. I wish him well in whatever path he chooses to honor his daughter's memory.

If he was actually a socialist, he certainly wouldn't support gun control. Actual leftists are extremely pro-gun.

Those tend to be more communist revolution-fetishists than anything.

Hogg is very much in line with the Bernie/AOC wing of the party, and they self-identify as socialists. I seriously doubt that's electable statewide in FL.

Absolutely not. The guy is a Trump/NRA-supporting fraud and should be treated as such.

1. David Hogg didn't support Bernie, he's made multiple eyeroll tweets calling for "Dem Unity" in the primary by calling out disagreements during the debate, and has even called Bernie out multiple times including in the tweet below. (It was a super dumb take but that's not the point)

2. The Bernie backed candidate lost by under 1% in the Florida 2018 Governor race. Bill Nelson, the moderate who apparently is much more statewide suited, also lost by under 1%.

You're kinda talking out of your ass, fam.
