Ralph Nader is one of a handful of respectable far-left people. He is not an Ivory Tower Marxist, such as Howard Zinn or Noam Chomsky. He is a Christian socialist, a throwback to the prototype of Eugene Debs. His advocacy, activism, and actions for the environment, consumer protection, Arab-Americans, and government transparency make politician “activists” such as the Squad look like the hypocritical grand standers they are.

He doesn’t have any family IIRC. That’s probably why he’s still waging his one man war I guess.
His mother was actually an environmental activist from at least the 1950s, maybe earlier. His sisters, Laura and Claire, are mildly famous as well. He never married.

IIRC, he was actually good friends with Gore Vidal and Benjamin Spock.

I don't think it's unfair or irrational to balance an appreciation for Nader's consumer advocacy with disappointment that he got too ambitious for his own good by at least partially helping Gore lose in 2000 and usher in the disastrous Bush era.
Balancing fifty years of activism against hurting President Al Gore? How long will liberals be sore about the 2000 election?
