Why does Bibi/the state of Israel have veto rights over who we sell sh**t to? That seems like a bad idea.

It's not like it doesn't go the other way. Apparently one of Trump's big demands of Netanyahu was that Israel stop selling certain military tech to China. Allies often make these kinds of requests of each other, and it's not really a "veto" so much as a strong suggestion.
