Still surprised they're letting Bill Clinton be involved here, you'd think his Epstein toxicity might outweigh the 'former president' factor

Pete Buttigieg is probably the biggest omission, right? I'd expect him to speak, especially since Biden apparently likes him, so kinda weird.
Al Gore too. And generally I'm sad that Kirsten Gillibrand isn't getting her due Sad

Why doesn't Al Gore speak at this year's DNC?

I'm more upset by the lack of Latino representation though, AOC is the only one...

Yeah, even before the Epstein stuff really blew up, for the last four years or so, I've been of the view that Democrats should treat him the way Republicans treat Dubya (hide him and try to pretend he was never president).

Really strange that Pete is not on this list. Next to Clyburn, he was a kingmaker in the primary.

Any chance Biden reversed course and he’s the VP nom?

Night 3 has 8 people (including VP). Night 4 has 9 people. If Harris or Duckworth move to Night 8, that would be 8 on Night 3 and 8 on Night 4. Wink

Surprised Beto's not on there, but that campaign probably killed any chances he had for a statewide win in Texas and other than a cabinet position he really doesn't have anywhere else to go.

Agree

Bill has always had a, let's call it, 'women problem'

Monica Lewinsky has been re-evaluated in a MeToo context, and his lesser-known relations are just as problematic. Kirsten Gillibrand says he should've resigned from office

The Epstein stuff hasn't even been exposed properly yet

Bill has to go, and Dems need to stop pretending he's not despicable

You guys really think that the Democratic Party isn't going to invite one of it's most popular and famous former presidents just because of unproven conspiracies/rumors?

They might as well not invite Joe Biden himself.

It's so disgusting and hypocritical how Al Franken was blackballed from the party while slick Willie still gets a primetime spot at the convention.

Biden's speech will most likely be very long though on the last night, prob the longest. Wasn't Hillary's over an hour?

Conspiracy or not, Clinton did meet Epstein at least a few times. That's a terrible optic.

Imagine if there was photos of Biden at a party with Epstein. I'm doubt he would have been the nominee if that was the case.

Well, we're not nominating Bill Clinton so I have no problem with him speaking at the DNC. He's a former president of our party.

Bill Clinton left office extremely popular and according to opinion polling he's the 3rd most popular Democrat in the United States.

Guys, Bill Clinton left office with approval in the high-60s, and everyone who isn't an idiot leftist agrees that his presidency was incredibly successful.  Even Republicans.  Amazing economy, great foreign policy, solid steps in social progress, plus his ability to compromise with a hostile Congress.  If not for the GOP working overtime 24/7 to gin up nonsense conspiracy theories (including the rise of Fox News and right-wing talk radio in response to his presidency) he would have had post-9/11 W approval numbers.

Since then he's literally done nothing wrong, his main work has been starting a big charity to go do good things in Africa and the Caribbean, just like Jimmy Carter.  But because the right-wing hate machine never removed "KILL CLINTON" from their system, the hatred and conspiracy theories just keep flowing, towards both him and Hillary.  They're demonized 24/7, non-stop, for literally everything.

And since the internet and social media became big, it's been infesting the left as well.  Literally any dumb s--t the right comes up with about the Clintons gets echoed over on the left.  In 2016 we had those big "BILL CLINTON IS A RAPIST" signs, as though a massive controversy from 1991 was somehow news in 2016.  It started on the right as a whataboutism for Trump's "grab her by the pussy" comments, but on the left it just became everyone's favorite reason to hate Bill Clinton.

Now in 2020 we have this Epstein thing.  The Clinton-Epstein connection has been public knowledge throughout his career.  Game Change wrote about it in 2009.  But PizzaGate/QAnon pedophilia internet sleuths, connecting dots with their absurd theories, think they've found something groundbreaking.  And like any Clinton conspiracy theory, because it gets so much buzz on social media, the mainstream media has to add the asterisk of "he has an Epstein problem" even though Clinton's staff have demonstrated, with evidence, time and time again how just the fact that he hung out with Epstein a few times doesn't mean he raped little girls.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Bill Clinton delivers fantastic speeches and is beloved by the party.  Get out of the internet bubble please!  Yes, the video of his speech is going to be flamed by trolls commenting "CLINTON-EPSTEIN PIZZAGATE QANON READ THE TRANSCRIPT" and so on.  In 2016 it would have been flamed as well, just with something else.  Same with 2012, 2008, etc. etc. even in 1996 you'd have had the exact same sorts of people talking about Vince Foster.  These idiots can't be permitted to have a real impact on the real world.

You didn’t need to make a long post just to say “but he was popular 20 years ago and now people are mean to him on Twitter”.

Of course General MacArthur has to make a long winded response just to remind us how much he hates the left.

Anyways it's hypocritical to have Bill there but not Franken

Does "The Biden Family" mean Hunter gets a primetime speaking slot? This convention might turn out to be high-energy after all
