This is my expertise. Thank you for this post.

In America, from most freedom to least freedom:

1970s
1980s
2010s
1990s
2000s
1960s
1950s

In Europe, they had less freedom in the 2010s than in the 1990s and 2000s, and perhaps less than in the 1950s and 1960s.

What makes you think that European teenagers had less freedom in 2010s than in the two previous decades but that for American teenagers is the opposite?

A lot of countries in Europe tightened their alcohol laws in the late 00s while in America schools began to loosen up in 2014.

Ah. I interpreted freedom more in terms of parents' rules than in terms of official laws.

It’s much harder to objectively determine parental freedom norms than it is to determine official laws.

Well that is very true, which is also why I was not going to give an answer.

The 80s for the US from what I understand. Strong economy and the most freedom. The 50s and 60s had no civil rights and the Vietnam war. The 70s had a bad economy. From the 00s on, freedoms have been cut I think.

Really for the US it's a tossup between the 80s and 90s, but I think I'll give the slight edge to the 80s.

For Spain, I'd actually say the 00s however. The 50s, 60s and 70s are disqualified because fascist dictatorship. The 2010s saw a bad economy, and also a bit of freedom loss I think.

The 80s and 90s are good contenders, but the economy was atrocious in both decades, except for at the end of the 90s. The 00s did start to see freedoms restricted however but I think it was minor enough that I can overlook it.

I think the later, the freer, at least in terms of personality. I think there weren't many decades in western civilization in which it would have been okay for my parents to have my same-sex boyfriend join us for dinner.

I got caught in evil Ronnie Reagan's effort to blackmail the states into raising their drinking age to 21 and ended up turning legal 3 times--18 in Louisiana, 19 in Texas and then 21 in Texas as the racist hick state lege didn't grandfather in those already legal when they raised it to 21.

Why does “current teens” have the most votes? Being stuck at home due to a pandemic doesn’t seem very “free” to me. Also, how are “current teens” any different from 10s teens? Having it as an option makes no sense on multiple levels.
