I'm surprised about some other states. NC and ME both have D trifectas, and PA, MI, WI, and MN all have D governors. If we lose because of this though I would be so mad.

Austria also does not allow ballots to be counted which arrive after Election Day 5pm.

I’ve read that more than 2.000 ballots came in late and were not counted last year, out of 5 million votes cast.

But the Austrian Postal Service cannot be held accountable for the stupidity of people, who wait until the last second to mail them in - when it clearly says on the envelope:

„PUT YOUR SIGNATURE ON IT.“

and

„SEND IT IN AT LEAST 2 DAYS BEFORE ELECTION DAY, OR EVEN BETTER 3.“

The Postal Service even empties the mail boxes the Saturday morning before an election Sunday.

But there are people out there who drop their ballots off on a Saturday afternoon and expect it delivered on a Sunday ...

Best solution is drop off ballots although apparently Trump administration is suing Pennsylvania for allowing this.  RIP American democracy if he wins on this.  The guy truly is authoritarian and will do anything to cheat since he cannot win the proper way.

Mail you ballots in as soon as you get them, if less than two weeks find a place you can drop it off. If younger and healthier go vote early if you can.

There is an overwhelming partisan divide with mail-in voting, thanks to Trump. Vast majority of mail-in voters will be Democrats.

Mail in voting is heavily skewed toward rural areas.

The assumption here is that every single Republican will vote in person and every single Democrat will vote by mail. Which is not true. Also that all Democrats voting by mail will be late in sending in their ballots.
