In America's two party rule, if you are a Independent elected to Congress, you have to caucus with the Republican Party or the Democratic Party.

What would you do?

Maybe Independent because I don't want to be bound to a party, even if I vote with ds more than not.

Quote
But he added:

"One final word. By associating myself with one side, I am not in automatic opposition to the other. In the situation of a Republican House, a Democratic Senate but with substantial powers in the minority, and a Democratic president, no one party can control the outcome of our collective deliberations. As Bill Clinton might say, it's just arithmetic. In fact, this situation has only two possible outcomes — action based upon good-faith compromise or no action resulting from political deadlock.

"And this latter is simply unacceptable to the American people."

The GOP leadership no longer allows for dissent in its ranks unless it is calculated and approved. I'd be an indy or Libertarian.

I would be member of Democratic Party and Democratic Caucus, but wouldn't vote strongly in party line on social issues, on economic issues I would vote strongly with my party, except for a very small number of votes

It's likely to be a 51/49 Senate majority,  CO, ME, NC and either AZ or IA. So, Ds are most likely gonna be in majority

Independent, I wouldn't want to have to have my votes influenced by party leadership.

I would caucus as a Republican. I doubt I would be well liked in the caucus given my stances on racial justice, climate change, ICE, and LGBT rights. Im still a fiscal conservative though and pro-life so there is no other option though.

Democrats, obviously. In the House, he'd be a member of the New Democrat coalition and would join the Climate Solutions Caucus, LGBT Equality Caucus and Problem Solver's Caucus.

The Democrats, but I'd be a New Dem in the House and the equivalent of that in the Senate, so I wouldn't always vote with the party, especially on more left-wing proposals

Democrats. Outside of guns and abortion and maybe a couple other issues, I’d vote party line.

I may caucus as an independent and exploit the opportunity to go full communitarian and be a pain in the arse to everyone else.

This.

The Democratic party's hostility toward those who are pro-life would make it impossible for me to be part of the Democratic caucus in just about any legislative body in America, even though I am not an economic conservative.

The Senate - GOP
The House - Dems.

I'm a republican through and through. But my hearsay would probably get me stripped from any meaningful committee in the house. Maybe I'd have more leeway as a lipinski - like democrat.
