Honestly, it is extremely easy to get people to wear masks if Trump (or alternatively, the state governors) wanted.

Just fine people for not wearing masks. A 200$ fine would be more than enough for people to wear masks, even if it is only because of fear of the fine.

I actually personally despise wearing a mask as it fogs my glassses extremely badly, and therefore never wear it when it is not legally necessary. However, because it is mandatory to wear one in public transport or in any kind of shop, I have no choice but to wear one. Otherwise I am plainly not allowed in (and if I was allowed in, the store would get in serious trouble).

Would I actually wear one if it was just a recommendation? I don't know; but since I do not have a choice I end up wearing one.

Just fine people not wearing masks and move on, it is extremely simple.

Here is a compromise, if you don’t wear a mask, you will be prioritized last for medical treatment.
Since Covid isn’t that deadly, DTT surely supports this compromise, right?

If you’re overweight and continue to eat McDonald’s....follow your own logic, which seems to also be dumb.

I 100% agree. People who treat their bodies like s**t, eat crap, never exercise, smoke, and drink to excess should expect to pay far more for medical treatment than someone who takes care of themselves. I mean, what would be the alternative? Treating everybody the same way, regardless of their life decisions? IDK bruh, sounds like socialism to me.

That's our job as health professionals. But I can't say that I don't side-eye when someone comes in whose BMI is over 30, blood pressure 150/90, fasting blood sugar over 136, and he/she claims it's "all genetic".

To be clear, I'm not saying that a doctor should violate the Hippocratic Oath. Insurance providers, on the other hand, have no obligation to keep rates low for people who mistreat their bodies. That would be like a car insurance company ignoring someone who gets in a fender-bender every month.

But how do you enforce that standard, and who decides whether a person is making too many bad health decisions versus bad genetics?  Also, it's not an accident that poor people and especially people who live in food deserts are, on average, fatter and less healthy than wealthies, and that fresh produce and non-crap food are a great deal more expensive than the crap food.

While I sympathize, exercise is free.

Leisure time is not.
Not to mention, not everyone lives in the suburbs where it is possible to go for a run in the evening without getting mugged.

Eh, how true is that description actually?. Judging from that sentence, you'd expect the US to be like Mexico, Nicaragua or Venezuela with people getting mugged almost always?

I never said it was the whole country —but yes, in some areas of the inner cities is is absolutely true. Even in some rural areas, there are places where you simply do not go after nightfall.

People are dumb who can’t wear a mask right. Cover the nose and mouth, it’s not hard.
But be sure to have a giant hole cut in the middle so that you don’t die of carbon monoxide poisoning!

So if anything can be worn as a mask, including a bandana, then how effective is this ‘rule’ anyway?

Why am I always right? It’s amazing what critical thinking does. Fauci wrong again. #unmasked #security theater

Soon I’m going to be told that you don’t need to do anything when you sneeze. Or wash your hands. Or wipe your ass.

Just fine people for not wearing masks ...

They actually need to do less than that. If the POTUS and some Governors, from day 1, took the Pandemic seriously, and repeatedly told ALL their citizens to always do the right thing to protect others and diminish the spread, it would have made a huge difference in our nation.

Instead, we got some leaders (including the president) who make a mockery of wearing masks, and politicized it to a Dem-thing-to-do, versus a GOP-thing-to-do.
And thus we are left with many naive morons in our society, who will go along with the president, and would rather see more deaths than admit to the science/facts of the matter.

We have already been inoculated by other vaccines like flu and pneumonia shots that help protect us from various diseases. That's why the AIDs epidemic has declines, therapies in other vaccines have helped contained the virus. As well Doctors prescribing meds for Diabetics, that people are taking. Mask isnt necessary, but they help the spread of the virus to other people.

On buses, not on trains, there is more of thread to spread the disease, due to closeness

While OP is arguing in complete bad faith for the opposite reason that his point should actually make, bandana and jogging masks have actually been proven to make spread more easy by breaking up the droplets into smaller particles.

The answer to this however is not ignoring masks but making an absolute mandate in all public space of medical masks and the government should aide this by ordering more be made.

The current restrictions (where they exist at all) are far too lax and seem like a centrist compromise between reality and delusional idiots when only the former should be given any weight.

This doesn't really pass the smell test, despite the explanation in the article. Let's see if other studies back it up.

The neck gaiter (No. 11 in the photo below), which was made of polyester spandex material, performed the worst in the study, actually producing more particles than speaking with no face covering at all.

Using a laser and sprayer it's fairly easy to prove. My main reason for pointing this out is while OP is correct in that singular point, it shows we need more stringent mask requirements, not less.

You know what, I’m not going to fight you.
It is your life, and you can make your own decisions.
DTT, if you really are that upset about wearing a mask, I do know a legal loophole in most mask mandates.
It works in nearly every state (except Hawaii and Oregon)
The actual loophole is hard to explain, so this video may help you.

Good luck.

I buy that they're the worst of the coverings studied, but not that they're worse than nothing at all. Creating more droplets doesn't mean they're worse. If you cut a droplet in half, each has half the virus and is half as contagious (if ingested) on its own. Moreover, any covering stops a lot of moisture, and thus virus, from getting through since they get wet when you cough in them. I get the smaller droplets don't fall as easy so it's a matter of which effect wins in terms of actually creating more infections. I have a hard time believing they're worse but will be happy to accept that if more studies back this up.

I'm not at all saying they're better than nothing, that there are far better alternatives.
