Even a simple bandana stops you from touching your nose and mouth with your bare hand. This is one of the ways flu and coronaviruses are spread. You touch a contaminated surface and then touch your mouth or nose, this is why something as simple as vigorous hand-washing with soap is recommended. If Covid-19 is airborne which seem likely the bandana would be less effective against that but still a barrier from you touching your mouth and nose. Pandemics are a numbers game and the more doors you close for stoping new cases the better we'll be able to tackling this problem.

That’s not true either! Covid doesn’t stay on surfaces very long. Christ, CNN really is fake news.

I bet you also believe that your doctor is poisoning you so that you stay sick and addicted to Big Pharma’s medication and the only real way to get healthy is to give yourself a bleach enema because that’s what the internet says.

I don’t. But doctors push drugs for profit all the time, hello opioid crisis.

You can make a argument that forcing masks on people infringes on freedoms. 🤷🏻‍♂️

And this conversation has been a big deflection.

Go on, tell me how a bandana keeps anyone ‘safe’?

Because it blocks a good percentage of their droplets from flying into the air and getting into someone else’s respiratory track, you blithering dumbass.

No, it does not. Bandanas have been proven to be ineffective!

Says who? Dr. Trump? You really not to check out reliable sources and scientific stuff before making such threads.

How many times has Faucci been wrong and flip flopped? Masks is one.

I don’t listen to that clown. He’s lost all credibility.

A number of scientists were wrong in the beginning. This is a totally new virus we haven't had any experience with. We're still in a learning process when it comes to this virus as new studies are being conducted and released almost every day. The effectiveness of masks has been proven in various studies done by scientists all over the world. All are wrong? Or it's just a conspiracy to make people look stupid? Come on.

Also: How many times has Trump been wrong or flip-flopped? If Fauci loses any credibility for being wrong on one thing over a brand new virus, what credibility has Trump left? On literally anything?

You could make the same argument about drunk driving laws, but you’d be an asshat for doing so.

I am genuinely astonished each day how stupid and void of logic those on the extremes of the "debate" about COVID have become.  Yes, it's #bothsides, lol.  However, since the OP is strictly exhibiting only ONE of the dumb sides...

... there is pretty good science that masks help, and there is an absolute 100% certainty that they don't hurt.  Even if they probably didn't do anything, why would it be such a big deal for you to wear one just to make worried people feel better?  Nobody is making you wear it outside or anything ... we're talking about stores with low ceilings, elevators, lobbies, etc.

Yes, agreed. Seatbelts and no shoes no shirt no service are also all part of the communist plot.

Masks prevent droplets. Every other developed country is wearing masks. This isn't rocket science, but it's still science. I already know quite a few people who got it and two of them were in bad shape but got out of it. This isn't a joke, just wear a mask. But "Muh Freedom" right? Though I'm sure you support the Secret Police taking people away in unmarked cars.

Here is a compromise, if you don’t wear a mask, you will be prioritized last for medical treatment.
Since Covid isn’t that deadly, DTT surely supports this compromise, right?

Nah, death panels aren't ok. However, if you refuse to wear a mask, your health care provider should be able to jack up your monthly rate by about 5000%. #LivebythemarketDiebythemarket

I've yet to see any argument saying that; you're certainly not making one. I've also not heard a good argument as to what rights and freedoms a mask requirement imposes on. "Selfish" is an incredibly strange way to put it too. What is the personal gain that the mask-requirers are getting here? The only two answers I can think of are "nothing" in which case it wouldn't be selfish, or "health benefits" which you would argue don't exist. Are you conceding that there are health benefits that the lawmakers are selfishly trying to get for themselves?

I 100% agree. People who treat their bodies like s**t, eat crap, never exercise, smoke, and drink to excess should expect to pay far more for medical treatment than someone who takes care of themselves. I mean, what would be the alternative? Treating everybody the same way, regardless of their life decisions? IDK bruh, sounds like socialism to me.

That's our job as health professionals. But I can't say that I don't side-eye when someone comes in whose BMI is over 30, blood pressure 150/90, fasting blood sugar over 136, and he/she claims it's "all genetic".

To be clear, I'm not saying that a doctor should violate the Hippocratic Oath. Insurance providers, on the other hand, have no obligation to keep rates low for people who mistreat their bodies. That would be like a car insurance company ignoring someone who gets in a fender-bender every month.

But how do you enforce that standard, and who decides whether a person is making too many bad health decisions versus bad genetics?  Also, it's not an accident that poor people and especially people who live in food deserts are, on average, fatter and less healthy than wealthies, and that fresh produce and non-crap food are a great deal more expensive than the crap food.
