Let's say Hillary Clinton wasn't Secretary of State under Obama and remained in the Senate. In 2016 she defeated Senator Sanders in Democratic primary. Donald Trumps gets Republican nomination. Who would win in this scenario?

Hillary may not have the email scandal, but the sheer number of votes she accumulates in the Senate will be enough to doom her.

There'd be plenty of additional cannon fodder for Trump, like the bailout, Obamacare, votes on Sotomayor/Kagan...

Trump gets the exact same map he got IRL in 2016.

Hillary would barely win, narrowly taking the Big Three and possibly Florida. No emails or Benghazi means no Comey letter. Trump may have found something else to latch onto, but given how narrow his victory actually was, I think she would be able to get enough voters on her side.

Since Gillibrand is never appointed to the Senate, she runs for reelection to her House seat in 2010 and loses to Chris Gibson.

Though who would Obama pick as Secretary of State in his first term? Maybe he chooses Kerry, causing Scott Brown to run for and win that seat instead of Ted Kennedy's.

I wonder whether or not Trump would get nominated if those were the main issues. I’d think Trump would be more likely to attack her for NAFTA, immigration, and guns.

The bailout that's extremely popular among working class whites in the midwest because it saved the auto industry? Sotomayor and Kagan who were confirmed by large majorities both were voted to be confirmed by Lindsey Graham. How did Trump's attacks on the ACA work in real life?

Easy: She wins because there is no Benghazi, reeemails, or Comey.

This isn’t complicated, folks.
