California 2006 gubernatorial election with no recall

What would be your takes for the 2006 California gubernatorial election, if there was no recall in 2003 at all. Gray Davis serving out his second term as governor, leaving the 2006 election as an open race. Does Jerry Brown jump in four years earlier? Or does the Terminator run three years later instead?

I could seriously see this as Jerry Brown vs Arnold Schwarzenegger. In which case, I really don't know who would win.

Jerry Brown doesn't run and neither does Schwarzneggar.

I'd guess it's Darrell Issa vs Cruz Bustamante.

Given it would be a D wave,

Cruz Bustamante 55%
Darrell Issa 44%

I expect a John Garamendi v. Tom McClintock race, which could go either way depending on how Davis is perceived.
