Quote
Racine, WI – A new July Public Policy Polling survey of 1,007 voters in Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District shows Racine native, national security expert, and attorney Roger Polack, who served in Afghanistan, within single digits of incumbent Republican Congressman Bryan Steil.

In the congressional race, incumbent Republican Bryan Steil is earning less than 50 percent of the vote.  He leads Democratic challenger Roger Polack by 10 percent (49-39), and the margin shrinks to single digits, with Steil only leading Polack by 6 points (47-41), as voters learn that Polack is a Racine native, national security expert, and attorney. The margin of error of 3.1 percent.

A majority of voters either disapprove or are uncertain of Steil’s performance as their representative, with only 44 percent approving of the job he has done.

The Presidential race is also tied in WI-01. Despite Donald Trump winning the district by 11 percent in 2016, Trump and Joe Biden are tied at 47-47, with six percent undecided.

This was Trump +11 in 2016.

A tie here is a double digit lead in the state. Neither Baldwin nor Karofsky carried it in their 11% statewide wins.

Change Research (D-Bryce)
October 19-21, 2018

Bryce (D) 45
Steil (R) 44

...

Steil won by 12 points.

Internal polls are at least 6 points off, sometimes they’re even worse.

The problem with that poll is more likely to be that it was by Change Research rather than that it was an internal.

You may be right. But another D internal (Global Strategy Group), conducted in September, showed them tied.

"Internal polls are off by at least 6 points" this seems like a very bold claim to make

Change Research? You're comparing apples to oranges. This is a PPP poll. Can't remember who it  was or what race, but when that Alaska PPP poll came out days ago and there was a big fuss about the results as trump was barely leading, someone on twitter pointed out that they hired PPP to poll their candidate last cycle and PPP found their candidate leading by 1 point. Said candidate went on to win by 1 weeks later.

Oh man, imagine the 22nd amendment was never a thing, Obama was allowed to run for a third term and decided to do it in 2020 (after stepping aside in 2016 for Hillary). All else being unchanged. It would be a bloodbath.

If this is in line with other internal Wisconsin polling then I can see why Trump's team and Republicans in general are so horrified moving into the 2020 election.

Running at the age of 77 a third presidential campaign, great comeback after suffering huge losses in Iowa and NH, being patient while the Trump presidency is collapsing by itself - what a great political animal Joe Biden is.
