In the year 1924, despite all the odds and despite his association in the Teapot Dome Scandal as well as his relatives campaigning against him, Theodore Roosevelt Jr. would defeat Governor Al Smith for the position of Governor of New York by 1.8% and would go on to win re-election in 1926, 1928, and 1930. Meanwhile, during this same time, the first southerner since Taylor had been elected as Senator Walter F. George of Georgia and his running mate, son of Former Vice President Adlai Stevenson of Illinois, Lewis Stevenson, barely defeated the Republican ticket of Commerce Secretary Herbert Hoover of California and Senate Majority Leader Charles Curtis of Kansas, winning the Electoral College by 1 vote but losing the Popular Vote by 15.3% (mainly because of how heavily the populated states of California, New York, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania voted against him). The Presidency of Walter F. George would certainly be one for the Democrats in the North to look and cringe at due to the fact that he would push Segregationist policies through Congress by rather forcefully convincing certain Senators or Representatives to vote for those ideas. The follow up appointments of William J. Harris and James T. Heflin to the Supreme Court as Chief Justice and Associate Justice backed this up significantly. However, in October of 1929, the stock market crashed and sent the whole world into an Economic Depression that likes of which hadn't been seen since the Long Depression.

It was due to the Unpopularity of the President and his inability to work with Congress that saw the Republicans strengthen their majorities in both chambers of Congress, but perhaps the most frightening was the ascension of the Socialist Party, who gained 29 House Seats, and the Communist Party, who gained 4. The most notable Socialist currently in office, however, is Governor Upton Sinclair of California. While rumors are circulating that the Socialists are planning to universally nominate Sinclair for their Presidential Ticket in 1932, the Convention that'll take place in San Francisco shows there are some truth to those rumors. Meanwhile, the Republicans have been able to successfully convince Governor Roosevelt Jr. to run for the Nomination and after nearly sweeping the primaries, he seems poised to win what many see as his birthright, though an upset by Charles Curtis or someone else at the convention in New York City is possible, even if unlikely. Finally, for the Democrats, who in the House entered an Anti-Marxist Coalition with the Independent, Farmer-Labor, and Labor representatives, have their own battle for the Nomination. New York City Mayor since 1925 Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Louisiana Senator since 1931 Huey Long is running against President George, with Roosevelt having the most support among the New England Democrats while George has the backing of the Establishment and Long has the support of both Louisiana and Populist Delegates that believe in his message.

It seems a new America is on the horizon. The question is, what part will you play in it?

I would like to have Woodrow Wilson run for Senate in New Jersey in 1913 for 2 points

This would make Woodrow Wilson run for Senate in New Jersey in 1913 and would set you back 2 points. This game is mainly about world-building and having fun.

Hello! I am here today to potentially introduce a spin off to JacksonHitchcock's 1948 Keys to the White House Game. Now, he leaves a great explanation of what the Keys are on his original game thread, but to put it simply, the keys are steps needed to win the electoral college and if 6 or more are true, then the incumbent party will lose the election, though it's only around to predict the National Popular Vote and not the Electoral College, meaning someone could have 6 or more true keys but still win somehow. Here is each key and for each election, the key that is true will be bolded :

Quote
1. Party Mandate: After the midterm elections, the incumbent party holds more seats in the U.S. House of Representatives than after the previous midterm elections. This Key cannot be altered through player point expenditures
2. Contest: There is no serious contest for the incumbent party nomination. This Key cannot be altered through player point expenditures
3. Incumbency: The incumbent party candidate is the sitting president. This Key cannot be altered through player point expenditures
4. Third party: There is no significant third party or independent campaign.
5. Short term economy: The economy is not in recession during the election campaign.
6. Long term economy: Real per capita economic growth during the term equals or exceeds mean growth during the previous two terms.
7. Policy change: The incumbent administration effects major changes in national policy.
8. Social unrest: There is no sustained social unrest during the term.
9. Scandal: The incumbent administration is untainted by major scandal.
10. Foreign/military failure: The incumbent administration suffers no major failure in foreign or military affairs.
11. Foreign/military success: The incumbent administration achieves a major success in foreign or military affairs.
12. Incumbent charisma: The incumbent party candidate is charismatic or a national hero. This Key cannot be altered through player point expenditures
13. Challenger charisma: The challenging party candidate is not charismatic or a national hero. This Key cannot be altered through player point expenditures

Points:
Points can be earned through a lot of ways, the most common ways on AH.com are wikiboxes and roleplay.

Cost of Offices:
Elected to State Legislature: Free
Elected to HoR: 1 for 4 years
Elected to Senate or Governorship: 2, and at least 4 years spent in either the state legislature or House of Representatives
Appointed to a low-level Cabinet position: 3
Name added to Vice-Presidential Ballot: 3
Appointed to a high-level Cabinet position: 4
Name added to Presidential Ballot: 5, and at least 4 years spent in any other elected or appointed office
Name added to Presidential Ballot with no prior experience: 7

Other Point Expenditures:
Boost a major party downballot: 3 points
Boost a minor party downballot: 6 points
Change a Key (Player decides if value is true or negative, can be done once per player every 2 elections): 10

Character Sheet:
While characters are not required to play, I do suggest that you create a character as it will make it easier to roleplay, but you can still earn/spend points if you don't have a created character.

For now, this is just to generate interest and see if anyone would be interested in playing this right now or later down the line. If the thread gets 3-4 or more active players, then we will start on May 20th, 2020 with both the DNC and the RNC and that will be open until 7:30 PM EST on May 23rd, 2020, where I and possibly a co-host will spend the entire next day calculating the results of the convention before posting the 1912 general election thread by 7:30 PM EST on May 24th, 2020 hopefully. We will continue to have three days intervals of turns unless requested otherwise and we will continue onward until either 2020 or 2024, considering the present time we find ourselves in by the end of the 1912 game. For every character added, I'll place it under this wad of text, so thank you for reading and hope to see you play (and for transperency, here's a starred Google Doc for everyone to keep track of who's who : https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RUukt64aEOftzST5Z-L8UMBH2DnQS3reenQk7II0bwk/edit?usp=sharing if someone is interested in cohosting, just PM or Discord message me and I'll accept the help, though you wouldn't be allowed to play so to be fair to the players).

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1l0hxqNm0wyLKZqaCT18j3IkOs2rLXb_JMy-qI3u43Os/edit <-- Who is who in the game. I'll update as we go along.
