As far as the "this won't help Trump carry MN" takes, lolwut?
Liberal city vs more conservative suburbs/rurals is one of the oldest political dynamics in the book (way older than Trump), and statewide elections (both primaries and the general) in Minnesota and other Midwestern states have often hinged on this "everybody else vs the Big, Bad City" type mob mentality.
Letting Minneapolis fester in its own squalor is going to serve voters in Minnetonka and Apple Valley just fine.
So you honestly advocate for this out of a position of spite? Whatever happened to “the rioters are destroying property, normal Minneapolis residents don’t support it”? I thought that the good and upstanding people of Minneapolis should be helped out to recover from dangerous left-wing violence? Or is everyone in that city somehow irredeemable in a hive of communist debauchery? Neither position makes sense from a pragmatic point of view, but can only be explained through spite and wanting others to suffer. You yourself admit this.
All Federal funding comes with strings attached. If state and local officials want Federal disaster relief funding, then Walz and Frey should be submitted to a Federal inquiry (like the Kerner Commission) to at least have to answer for the complete abdication of responsibility they exhibited during the riots.
