Given Biden is almost certainly going to overwhelmingly lose White voters (he's going to lose by big margins with every age group of white voters except those under those under 30), I'd say they are punishing him.

It seems to me that many of these black voters don't remember that Biden was originally picked to appeal to white voters instead of black voters.

No, they do. They appreciated Biden for being behind a black man for 8 years with no sign of envy or effort of sabotaging him.

This has to be one of the most stupid questions I've ever heard.

It makes a ton of assumptions that are wrong.

1. All white voters are racists

2. Obama is unpopular with white voters

3. Biden is associated with Obama so Biden must be unpopular with white voters.

4. White voters are monolithic so a young college-educated white woman from the city would vote the same as an old non-college white man from the countryside

But Biden did well in primaries in states that Obama 2008 and Hillary 2016 did badly in.

2008 and 2016 was contested until the end

2020 wasn't

There's a reason 2020 wasn't contested until the end because Biden won by a much larger margin than either of those nominees.

Anyway, what does this have to do with the (ridiculous) topic being discussed?

Being pro-Obama is a much more solid black identity thing than being anti-Obama is a white identity thing

Biden's white support was more similar to his black support in terms of socioeconomics/education, than was the case for Obama or Hillary. In a way it was a more natural coalition.

No, Biden is almost certainly going to do better with white voters than any Dem candidate in years. He will win white women and whites with degrees outright, by large margins, in addition to young white voters. He also will make gains with rural/WWC voters over Hillary.

We are living in an era of post Covid 19 world, Reade and Covid 19 happened after the primary. Bernie would definitely have benefited from both stories had it happened a mnth earlier. But it was happening, people were wearing mask, but it wasn't a Pandemic yet.

CA, TX, VA, NC, OK, MN and MA which flipped on Bloomberg voters to Biden would have cleared the way for Bernie

Why would they? Obama did better than average with white voters for a Democratic nominee, by OP's logic you'd expect white voters to reward Biden for being Obama's VP too.

Black voters have no great personal affinity towards Biden.  Biden benefited from near-universal name recognition from being VP for eight years, and this name recognition always made him the likeliest choice for more marginally-attached, low-information voters (i.e., most Black primary voters, especially in a state like SC).

It has nothing to do with Biden "standing behind a Black man" for 8 years.  If Sanders had been Obama's VP for 8 years, he would have had all the same advantages.

I was sure this is a bronz thread. Got it wrong.

Obviously, because Barack Obama is an admired man, and rightfully so.

A lot of white voters voted for Obama. The fact that some Obama voters switched to Hillary was a rejection of the party as a whole, not Obama.
