Quote
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has apologized for a series of anti-Semitic Instagram posts over the weekend, one of which included a quote about Jews falsely attributed to Adolf Hitler.
Quote
Jackson later wrote that his original post had been misinterpreted, according to screenshots taken by various news organizations. However, in a different post, he shared a specific paragraph referencing a Jewish plan to "extort America" and achieve "world domination."

I mean, he had to, after all the condemnation and pressure from his fellow professional athletes, right?  I thought what Drew Brees said was controversial, but boy, quoting Adolf Hitler to attack Jews really set off a stampede of athletes speaking out.

Oh no, just kidding.  They're all too busy shutting up and dribbling.

Is football on the decline yet? You'd think after all the CTE stuff that no sensible parent would let their son partake.

While the post is abhorrent, many football players (and boxers) are just not right in the head. I hope football starts going the way of baseball soon.

I live in a reason where everyone watches football. It won't as football is where kids and their friends meet, where parents can relax without their kids annoying them, and etc.

The Midwest is particularly egregious with this stuff. I grew up not far from Massillon Ohio, where every baby boy born at the local hospital is given a stuffed football.. because what else could boys want out of life besides getting their head smashed in?

And Friday Night Lights isn't an exaggeration.  High school football is a religion in Texas.

I just don't care anymore. Many Jewish faith leaders, activists, and organizations like Hadassa have supported Black Lives Matter (the organization itself - I stand with the black community's movement to end structural racism in law enforcement, but the BLM organization itself is a front for "trained Marxists") as well as all kinds of "social justice" causes from the caravan to the Muslim ban. Many of these people, including Edward Mosberg, are now seeing the chickens come home to roost.

Good. The post was repulsive, but it seems to have come from a place of ignorance rather than practiced malice. There's a lot of propaganda out there a young man could get suckered into.

The defenses of him by older figures like Stephen Jackson and Shannon Sharpe are actually worse.

No one quotes Hitler (whether falsely or intentionally) without some degree of malice to Jews. Of course, as I said earlier, I just don’t care anymore. The Nazi card is played so often that it has been rendered meaningless.

Yeah, I guess he just didn't know who Hitler was.  Is that what you mean by ignorance?

I'm just tired of the term "ignorance" having such broad application as an excuse.

When Brees expressed his perfectly valid and normal opinion, an opinion shared by the majority of Americans, he was forced to claim "ignorance" and say he "needed to be educated."

When DeSean Jackson directly quotes Hitler attacking Jews, he gets to use the same defense.  Oh it was just ignorance, he needs to be educated.

The two are NOT equivalent!  I can understand saying that Brees needs to learn more about the struggles his teammates go through, along with their friends and families and communities, and how those apply to the protests.  Although I still think it's very condescending to say he's "ignorant" for his opinion.  But what 33-year-old man needs to be "educated" to get over the "ignorance" that led him to quote Adolf Hitler?

Jackson's near the end of his career; it's not going to matter one way or another.

I'll remember to throw up, however, if he's on a roster and I observe him kneeling for the Anthem.  That would be more than a little rich, would it not?

Oh?

Kaepernick started kneeling, and objectively hates most of  America. Therefore you can argue that kneeling is a sign of disrespect.

Kaepernick isn't looking for compromise, understanding, or constuctive solutions.  The less attention we give him, the more attention we can give to serious people who don't have to come up with a hustle to make money because their career is over due to injuries and being overrated as a player.
