How would Biden have done against Bush in 2000?

More people would want to "have a beer with him" than Gore, so maybe he could have won? Hell in some ways Biden is a Democratic Dubya -- constant gaffes but we love him for it. Might have made a better match for him at the time than the "elitist" Gore. I can see him winning everything Gore won plus NH, and that alone would give him the presidency even without Florida, which I can also see him winning. Maybe even Missouri and Ohio too.

The problem is I don't see how he could possibly win the nomination, even if Gore hadn't run and been endorsed by Clinton. His failed 1988 campaign was a less distant and more embarrassing memory then than it is now. And he wouldn't have likely stood out as much without being Obama's VP first.
