Still think Gephardt will win Iowa. He was basically leading Howard Dean in the OTL for more than a year before Kerry & Edwards finally emerged.

If McCain wins as big as he's leading right now Republicans do have a shot getting 60!

Crap,
McCain may have squandered Republican Chances to get to 60 Seats in the Senate with his poor Debate Performance. This is bad News for the President. Democrats obstruct everything just like they did in the OTL when they took over Congress in 2006.

I am not posting a Map but I'll say this: McCain will win easily.

However having Washinton & Oregon as Toss Ups is a little bit too optimistic on your behalf.

Biden will win PA, NJ, McCain will win OH. McCain will also win Iowa, Michigan & Wisconsin and Biden will win Minnesota. McCain also wins Arkansas while Biden will win the Overall State of Maine + 1st Congressional District.

Curious what happens in the Washington Governor Race assuming Gregoire and Rossi are running against each other like in the OTL.

I also think that the Wisconsin Senate Race will be a lot closer compared to the OTL due to McCain carrying the State.

On the flip side , Arkansas is also a tossup, West Virginia is Lean D and even before Rockefeller was picked was a tossup, and KY is Lean R instead of Safe R so some of the trends that happened in the OTL Bush years are different here.

The KEY over the next two years will be how McCain will handle "Hurricane Katrina" and it's Aftermath. Bush did very bad handling it and lost a lot of trust to the American Public resulting in low Approvals as the 2006 Midterms approached.

Funny conversation between Al Gore and George W. Bush.
I think 2008 will be between a Bush and a Clinton yet again and the Bush Family has a terrible Track Record running against a Clinton. Hillary will become the First Female President in this TL!

Looks like Biden will get at least a consolation prize tonight by getting over 200 Electoral Votes. That seems to be doable as I don't think he will lose every outstanding State left.

Kerry got 252 in 2004 in the OTL but McCain is more popular than George W. Bush so McCain getting close to 300 makes sense here.

Virginia flipping must make Senator George Allen very, very nervous.
Republicans are in for a rough Midterm Night in 2006. I don't think they will lose 30 Seats like in the OTL but likely 15 - 17 Seats and Democrats might narrowly snatch the House.

It's only 0.4% that he lost by IOTL. With McCain not being Bush and given that Kaine won by five OTL I think Allen will make it (even though I hate him with a passion).
It's true that's only 0.4 but you really have to take into account the big Demographic Changes in NoVa which happened between 2004 and 2006 in the OTL which would massivly affect the 2006 VA Senate Race even in this slightly more GOP-lean TL. VA will probably the closest Senate Race in 2006.

And whomever the GOP Nominee is in 2008 will have huge problems holding VA, OH, CO, NV and NM.

OSR,
MD-GOV: Ehrlich vs O'Malley is a highly questionable Call from you for me. If the Generic Ballot is TIED no way Republicans have a shot holding Maryland.

Predictions

House: 233-202 Republican (D+ 14)

Senate: 52-48 (DEM Gains PA, OH, MI, NJ, WA, RI / GOP Gains MD and hold TN)

Governor: GOP hold TX, MA, MN / DEM Gain IA and MD (in an upset) Voters split Tickets electing Steele as 1st AA Senator from the State of MD while ousting Incumbent Governor Ehrlich.

If Michael Steele wins in Maryland it will be because Cardin had that very divisive Primary with Kweisi Mfume AND it will be potentially hard for Republicans to keep him off the Presidential Ticket given how much the GOP was dodged with African-American Support in big Cities around the Country.

Hopefully there will be a victorious Al Gore/Barack Obama 2008 Democratic ticket.

Really…nah the Dems can do a lot better

However, I would like to see OSR continue this timeline to 2016 ideally with a two-term Democrat President

The plan currently is to continue this TL to 2016 and maybe 2020. I’ll probably create a separate thread for it but I do plan to take it to 2016/2020 at the moment .
Cool OSR Smiley
I actually predict that Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic Nominee in 2008 and win the Presidency only to lose in 2012. Obama will stay put in the Senate BUT I'd like to see him creating his own History by maybe becoming the 1st Black Senate Majority Leader. Something like that would be cool.

It is looking more and more likely that Harold Ford Jr will will win if you say that 91 % of the Vote is in. The remaining Vote should be from Nashville and Memphis.

I think Democrats will win either in Washington State or Rhode Island as well. They are having a good Night despite not winning either of the Congressional Chambers.

McCain has only 4-5 months to get something done at most before the 2008 Presidential Campaign starts!

Bernake is bad, the guy who drove the States in the ditch in the OTL!

God help us!

Can Democrats filibuster him?

Hilarious if Russ Feingold thinks he can beat Hillary Clinton! Hillary will walz into this Nomination I think.

I want to see Clinton/Trump ticket. It would be very interesting

It would definitely be interesting but I don't think that would be possible given the no same state rule for presidential tickets.

Given Trumps success in Business & Financial World maybe Hillary Clinton will nominate as Head of the Department for Small Business assuming she wins the Presidency? That would be interesting too!

I predict a very, very close GE between Senator George W. Bush and Senator Hillary R. Clinton. It might even get closer than the OTL 2000 Election.

AND if Hillary manages to lose a winnable Race Mr Trump will very likely run again in 2012.

Given how Trump closed out his Campaign and said how much he loved New York there are two things he could do:

# 1 If Hillary becomes President angling for a Cabinet Spot

OR

# 2 Run for New York City Mayor with the Blessings from the Clintons in 2009.

If I were Hillary Clinton I'd pick Bayh or Bredesen as VP. Both of them would put IN & TN in play.

Rockefeller is too old. With Bayh or Bredesen there is a reasonable chance they can run for POTUS themselves.
