Not great COI, but proof that a reasonably compact Biden district can be drawn in the state:

Biden +5.2, Cotton +4.5; 52% white, 38% Black. I wonder if some extreme snaking around the state could produce a Ricky Dale Harrington district (for whatever reason DRA lists him as a Democrat).

You actually do not need an extreme snake.

New to redistricting, don't know if this scenario would work, but it includes a Biden +7% district including all of Pulaski County, extending to the Delta counties, and up to Forrest City and West Memphis.

My effort at a map dividing the state into four quadrants. Largely based off a map I drew back in 2018 that divided the state in similar manner but did so using 2010 figures.
Spoiler alert! Click Show to show the content.

Biden won AR-02 by 3 points.

I drew a fair 3-1 R Map that has 100% proportionality rating or only a R+3.61% bias and the 1st district is almost minority majority and 38% AA.

Would a Little Rock + Delta district be likely to hold for the decade?

Would a Little Rock + Delta district be likely to hold for the decade?

This AR-1 district does have countervailing trends with the MS delta region trending more to the GOP, while the Little Rock area is getting more Dem.

2016: Clinton +8.19%

2020: Biden +8.24%

Both presented by Republicans.

Kinda surprising they aren't gerrymandering the map, they're both just least change maps.

Yeah AR-02 is around Trump+8 in both maps compared to Trump+9 atm, keeping Pulaski whole was the thing that stuck out most to me, too.

No reason for them to do anything but that. Trump got over 60% in all except AR-02. Even in that district, French won reelection by double digits last year despite everyone somehow thinking it was a tossup (which I still don't really understand).

I won't be posting all of these as they are filed, but this one makes the 2nd even more democratic than the last two I've posted.

This is SB720, from the Senate this time.

Do all the legislators just get to file a bill of whatever they want or is there some process here?

Mark Johnson is a Republican from SD-15.

They file bills on what they want, then a committee debates them, votes on what it should be, sends it to the full chamber where it is voted on up or down.

When you say all of these: its just the three right now or is there more bills?

Fortunately it seems they will be reverting to a all-whole-county map.

Sen. Whitaker proposed a map on September 15. It's not that different from Sen. Speaks' plan, outside of the following:

AR-01 takes in Van Buren County and Newton County
AR-03 takes in Madison County
AR-04 takes in Arkansas County, Chicot County, and Desha County

The partisan numbers are as follows:
AR-01: Trump +44.9
AR-02: Trump +7.7
AR-03: Trump +24
AR-04: Trump +36.2

They want to unnecessarily triple split Pulaski for some reason.(Yes I know the partisan reason, but considering only 40k is removed you could just single split it.)

lol 😂 I was kinda exaggerating on that dumbest part, but for redistricting news I only look at Dave Wasserman and dra for redistricting. I rarely go on a news adtcle comment section because people posting the most absurd stuff.
