These sort of videos are popular now, they're just long streams of birds, mice, rabbits and other wildlife that cats enjoy watching.

I played some for my brother's cats while I was watching them this weekend and they were enthralled, even the one who goes crazy running around his apartment. I didn't leave it on when I left though because my brother doesn't want that because they might knock the TV over. But yeah cats seem to really enjoy these.

Yeah, years ago I had a VHS tape called "Video Catnip" and the cats we had at the time were spellbound by it.  One of them would get right up to the TV and try to peer inside the edge of the cabinet to find the birds, squirrels, etc.

I've never owned a pet that gave a sh**t about what was on the TV.  I've tried, but they don't care.  Sometimes they'll glance at it if it's making clear, obvious and specific single animal noise, but they seem to get no visual stimulation from the screen.  This is 7ish dogs and roughly the same number of cats.

I've had one cat (out of many cats and dogs) who watched regular TV; he'd lay right in front of the set and was clearly watching.  He particularly liked basketball, baseball, and, oddly, Star Trek.  However, he was deaf, so it's not too surprising that he'd be more visually stimulated than most cats.

We also once had a dog who would freak out whenever a doorbell rang on TV and run barking to our door, but she wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.

In the 1980's, I remember trying to get my cat to watch TV.

But it was not interested. Now, the TV's have such a high frame rate or LCD or whatever that pets do actually pay attention now like it was real life.

It's a real problem for my partner's dog who loses it every 3 minutes watching normal television.
