Finally graded the whole thing, results are coming late into the night.

So I’ve noticed this question hasn’t really been answered afaik, but what happens if someone changes registration to a new state in obvious anticipation for that state’s NPC elections? (Like say, if I changed to Alabama right now) is the home state bonus removed, or halved, or what is the plan?

I remove the bonus so people can't game the system, mostly for fairness. Hence why it is ideal for people to let me know - privately - when it happens in case I didn't notice.

Can we get indications of where turnout is high? I always liked that little detail and it adds suspense lol

With polls closed across nine states - and one city -, election officials report unusually high turnout, particularly in light of the proximity of Christmas to polling day. However, anecdotal evidence is inconclusive, ranging from the suggestion of very high turnout across the board to an unusual turnout in certain states balanced out by low participation in others.

Embarrasing to state this, but someone - many thanks! - noticed something odd in the Minnesota results and I realized I made a beyond silly mistake on the Excel and doubled the Peace share of the vote to the detriment of - mostly - Lib and DA. It's been corrected alongside legislative numbers, nudging the final round to 56-44 instead of 58-42.

Indeed! Will correct that soon.

Friendly reminder that campaigning does not start tomorrow, I still want to continue the feedback process for a couple of days and make a few announcements.

As Sinn Fremont has now ceased to exist, I request that it be removed from NPC election consideration.

Also, the Worker's Advancement Party (Beauty and Bread Chapter) will now stand in alliance with the Labor Party in future Fremont NPC elections.

Quote
RULES CHANGE FOR FEBRUARY
Brief Summary

A.- CAPS: We will experiment with the first attempt at party and personal caps to see its effects on the arms race, the system will be subject to changes depending on how well it works (or not). Current February caps are setat 80 events per party in total, and a personal limit of 5 per day.

B.- MOMENTUM DECAY: Campaigning during the first week (until next Friday) will have an added value.

C.- GRADING: Regional/state campaigning will recieve higher grades than national campaigning.

D.- INDEPENDENTS: Independent citizens can run their own NPC candidates for Mayor/Governor.

E.- INCUMBENCY: Each incumbent government will be subject to a popularity dice roll, with subsequent effects. Players will be informed in the first batch of polling whether the state government is popular or not.

F.- SPLINTER PARTIES: Following reasonable concerns expressed by some, new parties created for the elections will require GM approval to stand, and will be followed carefully to prevent abuse of the system.

February campaign is open, will last for two weeks (Saturday included). Polling comes tonight - it's almost done, but I have to factor in the latest census update and the registration surge -, the updated rules are what was promised before, plus a measure to prevent splinter parties to abuse the rules, and slightly higher caps as this month's experiment.

I do apologize for the reduced campaign period, but due to personal issues it was either this or another month with a pause. I fully expect March to have the usual and longer period, and for us to be back on schedule.

Not sure if it matters on your end, Lumine, but Governor McCringleberry will retire at the end of his term; State Senator Henrique Teller is the Labor gubernatorial candidate in Colorado.

I don't personally think that allowing celebrity endorsements is a good idea, since either a. you would have to state the leanings of every celebrity or b. anyone can claim their support and then we have potential conflicting stories and/or celebrity arms races. Not my decision but that's my 2 cents.

I think celebrities is something that could be a fun rhetorical flourish for the players as long as it doesn’t actually affect the results.

DeadPrez campaigned with Edward Snowden and Glen Greenwald a few months ago so there is some precedent for it. I don't know if it really matters that much.
