There’s ALOT of enthusiasm on Twitter about his supposed candidacy from young people who say they hate both candidates and think they’re both equally bad (which I disagree with). I know twitter doesn’t matter and it didn’t help Bernie or Cenk, but still, it’s really scary the level of apathy I’ve seen. The level of disillusionment.

Lol.  The youth are apathetic and disillusioned?  When have the youth not been apathetic and disillusioned?

When they turned out in droves for the optimistic 2008 candidacy of Barack Obama (their turnout has been differential in other elections to significant extents, such as the 2018 midterms, but that's probably the best example of an unambiguously positive vote). Their disillusionment has grown in line with an increasingly common sentiment within other sections of society.

Literally no one who voted for Barack Obama in 2008 is in the "youth" age demographic now.

So? They were talking about the youth cohort of that time compared to the current youth cohort. Not to mention the 2008 youth are now 2020 millennial adults, who I aren't exactly enthused by Trump or Biden.

False equivalence at its finest.

An empty criticism, at best. Unless you have data demonstrating that Obama youth voters are un-disillusioned and are in fact enthusiastic about any candidate?

Sure. Just look at literally any poll with generational/age bracket breakdowns for support and/or enthusiasm.

Or are you seriously saying that millennials are just as unenthused in voting for Biden as they detest Trump? That's as ridiculous as it gets.

P.S. If you'd like substantive criticism, consider making substantive claims first. You have no data to back up your initial position.

If I have to see another yute saying "Well Biden and Trump are both bad" and using that as justification for Kanye I'm going to lose my sh**t.  Yeah, neither of the major candidates are great but voting for the guy that said slavery is a choice is hardly better.

This could have been avoided, if Bernie or Warren or Booker would have been the nominees.

Of course a third party candidate was open to coming into the race and Michael Moore said this to mess up Biden's chances in MI, PA and WI since the Dems didn't have a real primary

How on earth would Cory Booker have been relevant to this?

Kanye West's presidential hopes are real, a source tells ET. Days after the 43-year-old rapper took to Twitter to share that he intends to run for president in 2020, a source close to him tells ET that the announcement wasn't a joke.

"Kanye is telling people close to him that his announcement of running for president is serious," the source says. [He] has been toying with the idea for a while and has been getting more and more into politics."

The source notes that West's wife, Kim Kardashian West, and his family and friends "fully support his dream to run for president," adding that they "feel he has more to offer than what people think."

"Kanye has talked to several high-powered friends over the years about his idea and has gotten their support behind closed doors," the source adds.

High-powered friends and being "serious" is fine, but if Kanye actually wants to launch a late Indy bid, he needs to book it.  He's already missed the ballot filing deadlines for a number of states.

It wouldn't shock me if Kanye was serious about running for President.  But there's a big difference between being serious about a run for President and actually getting the proper infrastructure and ballot filings behind you.

His biggest issue right now would likely be actually collecting the required physical signatures in each state.

The barest of bare minimums is an exploratory committee and an FEC filing. Until those two are in place, everyone should treat this as the popularity stunt it is.

They sure weren't great fans of Biden during the primaries.

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/458631-biden-struggles-to-hit-it-off-with-millennials

They are voting for Biden now, yes, but that doesn't mean they're super happy about it.

https://www.npr.org/2020/03/13/815333316/examining-joe-bidens-broad-coalition-of-voters

Why is it so hard to accept that the Democratic Party has often put up challengers against incumbent Republican presidents who are somewhat "safe" and unexciting candidates that youth voters aren't thrilled about? Bill Clinton being the major exception. The original point is that the youth aren't flocking to Biden the same way they did to Obama. And the broader point is that the youth are disillusioned. That doesn't mean they will abandon Biden to vote for West. Why are you so emotionally attached to Biden that you're unwilling to believe that others aren't?

Primaries are irrelevant to the general when it was generally non-contentious, unlike 2016.

So you just took down your own talking point. Alright, thanks.

I'm not emotionally attached to Biden at all. I voted for Bernie in the primary, but I can safely say that, while I'm not a fan of Biden, I find him completely acceptable, and I find Trump absolutely detestable. Most Millenials would answer in the same way.

Assumptions just continually make your "case" worse. Just quit while you're ahead.

So you just took down your own talking point. Alright, thanks.

You failed to grasp my original point. I wasn't saying that people are going to vote for West over Biden in appreciable numbers- if anything, I think West is a cross-appeal candidate who could potentially take votes from both candidates. My point is that the kids ain't alright and they're not happy. That's the main point. I was agreeing with the posts that talked about the general disaffection and political alienation of millennials and zoomers. I offer Bill Clinton and Obama as counterexamples of Democratic nominees who didn't inspire alienation.

Nothing I have said conflicts with that.

We're not arguing here, just talking past each other. So there's nothing to quit over. Not everything had to be a debate with a winner or loser.

Indeed. There's nothing to argue about because all of your posturing has been guided by contrarian platitudes and assumptions about me and a whole generation of voters.

Finally, Millennials ("Obama youth") aren't kids. Most are at, around, or over 30 at this point. Zoomers weren't even mentioned in the original post, so you are just adding and reinterpreting as you go.
