It's clear that Cruz has a bias towards his state.

January 20, 2017 - Cruz inaugurated

"I, Rafael Edward Cruz, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. So help me god.

After the inaugural ball, Cruz and his family spent their first night at the White House, and the next day, Cruz was ready to get to work.

January 22, 2017 - Fair Tax Act passes the House and Senate, signed by President Cruz.

Representatives Rob Woodall (R-GA) and John Ratcliffe (R-TX) have drafted a bill they call the Fair Tax Act. Sponsored by many Republicans, Woodall and Ratcliffe took the lead on the bill. Among other things, the bill abolishes the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), repeals income taxes, payroll taxes, estate taxes and gift taxes. It also establishes a federal sales tax on consumption as opposed to income, and simplifies the tax code. Woodall and Ratcliffe are staunch allies of the President are are helping him deliver on his promise of abolishing the IRS and simplifying the tax code. A flat tax is not included in this bill, but it is likely the President will push for this. The bill passed the House 236-195. In the Senate the bill passed 51-49, with Murkowski and Collins voting nay. The bill was signed by President Cruz and he will address the press later in the day.

January 26, 2017 - President Cruz nominates Mike Lee for the Supreme Court

President Cruz has nominated Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) to fill the vacancy left by the death of Antonin Scalia on February 13, 2016, almost one year ago. Cruz and Lee are close allies in the Senate, and Lee was one of the first Senators to endorse Cruz for President. Many do not like this appointment, instead favoring a judge as opposed to a US Senator. But, barring an awful showing in his Senate hearing, Lee should easily pass the Senate.

March 15, 2017 - Cruz opens investigation into Clinton's emails

President Ted Cruz has opened an investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails. He has hired Robert Mueller as a special investigator to try and find something criminal with Hillary's emails. Trump promised to do this in his campaign in 2016, and now Cruz has done this.

March 31, 2017 - Trump: "I may run, I may not"

Just over 2 months into Ted Cruz's presidency, Donald Trump has not ruled out a run for the GOP nomination in 2020. There is still bad blood between Cruz and Trump, ever since Trump's attacks on Cruz's wife and family, and his refusal to endorse Cruz after he won the nomination. An early poll from Gallup shows a commanding lead for Ted Cruz.

Gallup Poll, March 28, 2017:

President Ted Cruz: 71%
Mr. Donald Trump: 20%
Undecided: 9%

May 8, 2017 - Beto O'Rourke to run for Cruz's seat

U.S. Representative Beto O'Rourke (D-TX) is running in the 2017 Senate Special election for Ted Cruz's seat. It looks as if it will be the incumbent Republican Senator Dan Patrick and Beto O'Rourke facing off. The race is rated as Lean R. The Democrats plan to pour money into the state in favor of O'Rourke. It is likely this will be the same matchup in the 2018 election.
