My favorite 'Star Wars' character. However, him being brought back for 'The Rise of Skywalker' was a forced (pun not intended, this time) piece of hack writing. He was entertaining to watch, sure, but he also served as a reminder of how poorly planned out the sequel trilogy was.

Also I must say that I hate that "Sheev" is his official canon first name. I don't know why, I just don't like it. I preferred him having only one name like Prince, it added to the mystery behind him.
But then again, maybe learning more about him could be compelling. I think a standalone origin story film of a young Palpatine's rise to becoming a Sith Lord and Naboo's Senator would be interesting. I don't think Lucasfilm is bothering with anthology films anymore though, which is kind of a shame because I could picture a Scorcese-esque film in the 'Star Wars' universe coming out of it.

Brilliant, especially in the Prequels.

Actually WON.

Ruled the galaxy for 20 years.
An entire GALAXY.

Exacted revenge 1000 years in the making.

Instead of conquering the Republic, transformed it democratically into a dictatorship.

Masterminded the Clone Wars, controlling both sides, feeding on conflict itself.

Nearly wiped out the Jedi, from 10,000 active in the galaxy to less than a dozen.

Corrupted the Savior of the Jedi, his archenemy, into his apprentice.

And say what you will of how it was done, he did actually learn how to cheat death.

And somehow built an entire fleet of planetkillers, crushed the New Republic too, and learned how to use the Force to stun an entire spacefleet while standing on a planet.

And I bet he'll be back sometime after Episode IX too.

Ian McDiarmid is great in the part.  He is a Tony award winning Shakespearean actor.

Easily the best villain.

The only part that makes no sense is where he got the time to, uh, n*&kie with someone...unless one of Rey's parents was created by means considered to be...unnatural.

I often wondee if he used his power, influence and money to procure concubines, sex slaves or if he hired hookers willing to put up with his appearance for large sums of money. "The Sith only look inwards" = greed fear and lust. Or did he just use the "these aren't the droids you're looking for" technique to make women want him? Or was he gay?

Let's ask the REAL questions.
