He endorsed her in 2014.

If he does he should lose all his Committee assignments and should be primaried in 2024.

You can't "primary" King, since he was never nominated or officially endorsed by the Democratic Party (unlike Sanders). There was a Democrat running against him on both occasions, but they were sacrificial lamb with no actual support from the party. The best you could do is to throw real support behind a Democrat.

My apologies; I was somewhat misinformed. He's not been 100% certain about it, but this is a pretty strong suggestion in my view.

I’m wrong about the Primary (you technically can’t primary an independent lol) but he should lose committee assignments

He won't do it for several reasons:

1. He doesn't want to piss off the Dem caucus and likely lose his committee assignments and overall good standing with them.

2. This is not 2014, when one could still credibly claim to support Collins as a bipartisan "moderate." She's made where she stands very clear with her repeated cowardly defenses of Trump.

3. Partly as a result of number 2, Collins is tanking in Maine and no longer has the same political brand there she once did. She very well might lose. Either way, it would hurt King's own brand because endorsing her would likely just anger most of his largely Democratic base and send them running towards another candidate if he does run again.

4. King probably is personally upset at Collins for her vote against impeachment and her defenses of Trump, so he doesn't even want to endorse her.

Most important reason: King wants to be in the majority again.

I don't think Collins has ever even endorsed King, so why should he do so, especially now? That by itself is very well an indication of where she truly stands.

No. my guess is that he doesn't endorse either and say that he respects how anyone votes, or gives Gideon a light endorsement.

Very very different situation from 2014, both in Maine and nationally. It would be surprising, like climbing aboard a sinking ship.

So what are the chances King endorses Gideon?

Given that Democratic control of the Senate come 2021 may be a narrow one, that would be very premature.

He’s staying out, saying “I think the people of Maine can figure out who to vote for without my guidance.”

Whats he going to do, caucus with the GOP? King is pretty Liberal, he is for all intents and purpose a Democrat.
