I wonder how many people will vote for both of the real life winners.

Had I been born in Sept. 1954, raised in Macomb County, MI just as I was raised IRL, moved to, say, Jackson, Mississippi in Sept. 1972 when "Black and White" by Three Dog Night was the No. 1 song (week ending Sept. 16), I'd probably vote McGovern/Carmichael, as a proxy for McGovern/Meredith.

Had I been raised in MS, with the attitudes and prejudices common to white Mississippians of that era? Who knows.

Nixon/Carmichel

I would have voted for Richard Nixon in 1972 without hindsight. With hindsight, obviously McGovern. I would not have voted for a segregationist like Eastland.

Nixon/Carmichael. Easy decision in both cases.
