Really hope Cox hangs onto his lead!  He'd be a great governor and Hunstsman is a weasel on two legs who has always been devoid of any principles whatsoever.

Did John Huntsman steal your lunch money? I really would like to know why you think Huntsman is so bad.

Jdb's got a point. Serving as Obama's Ambassador to China, then turning around and running for President against Obama is the actions of a person with no scruples whatsoever.

Well no... it’s just the actions of a man who at one point put respect for the Office above his ideological differences. What was unprincipled was his flip-flopping on Trump.

And yet if this was Tulsi Gabbard who went to work for Trump, and then turned around and ran against him, we'd be saying something very different.

No we wouldn't? Lots of Atlas & the left knows that Gabbard is a shameless grifter.

I don't see a difference.

Hunstman easily could have waited until 2016.

Or of course, he could have run in 2008 to begin with. Other than the South, which would have gone to Huckabee anyways, he would have been in decent position to beat McCain to the Republican nomination then.

Weber County just completed its count, and Cox is still up statewide by just under 11000 votes. It was also an underperformance for Huntsman compared to the initial count, which is bad news for Huntsman too.

I'm actually excited about this. If Republicans want to move on from Trump, Spencer Cox is one of the first people I'd turn to.

It has been reported that supporters of Jon Huntsman are exploring a possible write in campaign for Huntsman following his loss in the Republican primary.

https://utahpolicy.com/index.php/features/today-at-utah-policy/24292-some-of-jon-huntsman-s-supporters-are-exploring-a-possible-write-in-campaign

Apparently Greg Hughes and Thomas Wright, who also lost the Republican primary for Governor, were contacted by those supporters to see if they would support a Huntsman write in bid. Additionally, a telephone poll apparently contacted people asking about the possibility of a Huntsman write in campaign and mentioned possible running mates.

A spokesman for the Hunstman campaign said they were not responsible for the poll, and were not discussing a possible write in campaign.

This is a strange story. I doubt Huntsman actually launches a campaign, but it certainly would make the General Election interesting if he did.

Huntsman said today he will not run as a write in candidate in the general election for governor.

Well, hopefully he succeeds Romney in 2024. Maybe he runs against McAdams in 2022.

Unfortunate.

Well, Cox it is. Still better than 95% of Republicans.

A Republican primary where both candidates were pretty decent for the party's standards. Maybe Huntsman could return to diplomatic service under President Biden.
