Regardless of How you think it will go in 2020, how will the state vote in 2024? Will Democrats have an advantage as the state moves further to the left, or will Republicans still have an edge?

Georgia was immune to the change in environment from Democratic-friendly 2012 to GOP wave 2014. Any GOP "swing" there from 2020 would be negligible.

I think 2020 is the last year GA will vote Republican for the foreseeable future.

I could see heightened Republican "backlash" turnout in the aftermath of the first or second Democratic flip, but agree this is a place where there are probably too few persuadable voters to fight trends which have already prevailed beyond a couple of election cycles.

It should still be in play in 2024 even if it flips Democratic this year.

Yeah, I'm expecting the racists to come out in full force in 2022 if Biden wins, ESPECIALLY if Warnock is the incumbent senator on the ballot in 2022. Luckily, it will only be a pyhhric victory in the long-run if they did unseat Warnock then.

I still don’t think it would be enough especially if it’s an Abrams-Kemp rematch.

GA will vote Democrat in 2024.

The state is inelastic.

I am guessing that it would lean D by 2024 due to demographics change.

I assume Kamala will be the head of the ticket in 2024.

I think probably not just because Biden was a uniquely good candidate for he state and Trump is in a uniquely bad position.

A "normal" Republican (and for a large percentage of the public, "not Trump" is good enough) can easily win back the people who defected to Biden.

I would say D in 2024. Chance of a backlash in 2022 that makes it vote R but by 2026 it might even stick with Dems in an average midterm. This is why the Ossoff race is worth money, if he wins he might keep the seat for 30 years.

2022 with a Biden presidency will be the GOP's last potential hurrah in statewide contests (and even then, probably only via a runoff). The cake is baked.

Probably Democratic. I don't think that Georgia will vote Republican again for President until 2032 or 2036 and even if that is the case, only by a narrow margin. Brian Kemp will probably lose re-election in 2022 as well due to his mishandling of the Coronavirus pandemic and overall incompetent leadership on nearly all policy issues.

Those who say that Georgia is going to continue trending Democrat no matter what may be right, but I tend to think that new trends start when one less expects them and I have to see 2020 before making bolder statements about 2024.

A big factor will be whether Kemp manages to get reelected in 2022. Don't underestimate the effects of voter suppression.
