Before anyone comments that option 2 is totally out of the question, let's just try to keep in ming that this is totally make believe. I really can't stand McConnell or Graham and I'm just gauging how much everyone besides myself wants to see those 2 out of the senate.

As you can guess, I chose option 2

Option 1 by far. McConnell will be a great boogeyman for fundraising in the future-"Donate now or McConnell will be back in control of the senate"

McConnell will win, but Cornyn and Graham are vulnerable

1., but taking back the Senate and removing McConnell in exchange for a second Trump win is a deal I'd be tempted  to take. A rejection of McConnell's politics is more important than Trump's as the former is a much stronger perpetuator of everything that's wrong with the latter in addition to a host of other tragedies.

One problem I'm having is I think the Republican Party may very well make gains in 2022 and senate control(should it happen) for the Democrats may be short lived. Let's face it: if Biden wins, first termers(particularly Democrats) don't fare well in mid terms.

I suppose if it were a 8+ year run of owning the senate I might choose that over those 2 knuckleheads losing.

1 of the leaders will lose, SC is turning more into NC and TX, AZ and FL are becoming NV, CA, Co and NM. Biden is leading in Fox polls in TX

1. I don’t care who makes up the Republican caucus, as long as Schumer or any other Democrat is Majority Leader I’ll be happy

That’s why it’s important that Dems get as high a number as possible this year. 53 sears is probably enough to hold the line in 2022 comfortably, as the only real Republican targets would be AZ, NH, and NV and GA depending on this year’s special. I think in the end CCM would hang on and one of Warnock or Kelly.

There's no question here. The positive impacts of a Democratic Senate majority with McConnell & Graham unfortunately staying in the Senate vastly outweigh those of a Republican Senate majority with McConnell & Graham gone.

I read this wrong and thought it said which is more likely...which is why I voted 1. My preference would be 2 - with my planned presidential vote for Biden, I'd like to see a Republican Senate to prevent Democrats from having full control. I'm not too keen on McConnell and Graham - they've been there for too long - so I don't mind if they lose. Barring major scandals with both of them and a significant national environment improvement for the GOP, I don't see how it is feasible, though.

Option 1, easily. I don't care what Republicans happen to be part of their minority coalition. I do know that I want a functioning government, and I haven't forgotten that government shutdown that occurred with a Republican House, Republican Senate, and Republican President, and that's without mentioning any of the shutdowns preceding that one.

How is this a serious question.

What would you rather see? Victory or defeat?

Kind of hard for me to choose, because I don't dislike Graham anywhere near as much as I dislike McConnell.

I would like to see in January 2021 a Republican Senate Leader not called McConnell or Cornyn.

Well yes he would be the next in line. My personal preference would be probably Rob Portman

How is McConnell not a lock for leader of his caucus?

Even if this one cycle is a disaster for him, that'll be offset by a series of previous successes, blame of Trump and firm support from the donor class. I don't see how he gets kicked out until at least 2022.

I didn't say anything about the probability of it happening, and you're very likely in the right. I was just saying I'd like a new Republican Leader.
