I felt like Bernie would've been the Democrats' best shot. I think Bernie would've underperformed in the sun belt but significantly overperformed in the Rust Belt.

Bernie Sanders/Running Mate: 304 electoral votes and 51% of the popular vote
President Trump/Mike Pence: 234 electoral votes and 47% of the popular vote

What makes you think Bernie would have been the best shot or overperformed in the rust belt when he couldn't even beat Biden in the primaries in those states? He lost every county in Michigan and Wisconsin before dropping out. He couldn't even win Minnesota or Maine on Super Tuesday.

If you're gonna argue that Bernie was a better candidate for 2016 than Hillary in those states based off the primaries, you also must concede that Biden is an even better fit than Bernie for this year.

I think Bernie would win especially with the given circumstances (Covid and BLM Protests). I'd say Bernie wins with 279 electoral votes (flipping PA, MI, WI, & ME-2). Bernie also could win many other states like OH, IA, AZ, NC, FL. I think Bernie would definitely win.

Sanders wins because of Covid and BLM, but he would have a much weaker path than Biden.

Zero chance he'd win Arizona, Florida, or North Carolina.

He'd definitely win Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, but I think that's about it.

Sanders would be one of the weaker nominees IMO.
