Great News, it’s great to know that we have a conservative and not a socialist holding the title of youngest representative
This guy is going to give us NIGHTMARES!

The new PPP poll of NC shows Dems stronger than usual in the Asheville media market (mostly this seat). Entirely possible he may not be a shoo-in if the Dem is competent.
The general is definitely no shoe-in, especially now with all of Buncombe County, where Asheville is located, in the district after the NC Supreme Court ordered redistricting.

The old district was Trump 62% Clinton 33% in 2016, while the 2020 version of NC-11 would have been Trump 56.1% Clinton 39.2% in 2016.

Lmao -- Democrats hold just 1 district 55% Trump and above, but this is somehow not a shoe in?

He certainly helps dispute the notion that all young Republicans are dweebs, which applies to roughly 80% of those creatures in real life and ~98% on this blog.

I always picture Southern young Republicans as Bros with a drawl. This guy just establishes that to the nth degree

The moreover that in 2020 and 2024, Generation Z voters will increasingly become eligible to vote, which will likely give an advantage for Republicans as Generation Z tends to be more conservative than Millennials.

Beating Trump's pick? Impressive.

She was also the Meadows’ pick and they arranged his stepping down to set her up for the win.

And once again they underestimated the misogyny of Republican voters.
Yes it's clearly just misogyny and not plenty of other local factors such as madison having a much better campaign.

Yeah, just a coincidence that she is perhaps the only Trump-endorsed candidate to lose a primary this cycle.

Denver Riggleman and Thomas Massie's opponent agree.

FTR, Trump never endorsed Massie's opponent.

That is NOT true. It's hilarious that conservatives think that Gen Z will be a conservative generation.

Keep thinking that though.

I don't understand why this thread is three pages (the guy is just your typical Tanner), but compared to Lynda Bennett he was the preferable choice. Bennett was backed by Trump and Meadows while Madison was backed by a Rand Paul group.

Amusingly, since WNC is popular with retirees, this is one of the oldest congressional districts in the country.

Agreed. It also appears that Trump has no hard feelings about Cawthorn's victory, since he called him and congratulated him. It makes little difference as to whether Cawthorn or Bennett won, on a policy front, as both are guaranteed to be conservative Republicans and staunch party-line votes. On another note, it astonishes me that this man is less than three years older than I am. It really does put things in perspective.

Oh no, not the Gen z is conservative myth, again. Being less liberal than Milennials does not make Gen Z conservative, just like NJ being right of NY, does not make it Safe R. Gen Z is still a heavily Democratic voting bloc.

Yeah the delusion in thinking that a majority-minority generation is gonna vote for the GOP.

Also, none of this data reflect the radicalization of the past two years, the radicalization they will be subjected to in college, etc.

68% of 18-24 year olds voted for Democrats in the 2018 midterms. That's compared to 66% of 25-29 YOs, and 59% of 30-39.

https://www.cnn.com/election/2018/exit-polls

I don't see why the most ethnically diverse, secular, and queer generation in history should be more conservative than millennials.

Not to mention the most educated generation in history, right when the Republicans are doubling down on relying on non-college-educated whites to carry them.

If anything Zoomers seem more liberal culturally than Millenials. I cannot see how they are going to be a SUPER CONSERVATIVE generation.
