What's even the point of a Generic D/Generic R poll when there's already an R candidate and there's only two Ds left?

Makes me cautiously optimistic, but I;'m waiting for some actual candidate vs candidate matchups

Makes sense with them showing Trump up by 2, I highly doubt there will be more than 1-2% difference in the margin between those races....

In fairness, the specific wording is "the Republican/Democratic candidate" rather than explicitly Generic R/D, so a lot of voters will presumably assume they mean Cornyn (though I'd imagine not prompting with his name still distorts it a bit).

To be fair, a Cornyn vs Hegar race might as well be Generic D vs Generic R.

Hell that's what the race is going to be anyway. Cornyn is irrelevant and doesn't stand out. He will win or lose simply because of his party affiliation.
