Actually, now that I think about it, why can't our first game be September 7 (BYU @ Navy)?

Just saw that after Southern Miss lost the game, the coach quit.

Paul Finebaum is floating Hugh Freeze for the USM job, and given the Falwell and Blexit scandals at Liberty he'd probably want out even if it pays less than Liberty.  Still, the thought of Freeze, Leach and Kiffin in state at the same time is hilarious.

That sounds like the name of a law firm.

Coastal Carolina (I like Coastal Carolina for this game, but you've got to love a team nickname like the Fighting Camels)


Oklahoma State (It's a rivalry game, so there's always upset potential, but Oklahoma State is the vastly superior team)

Louisiana (It's a sign of just how nuts this season is going to be that the Rajun' Cajun's are ranked. I assure you, if the Big Ten and Pac-12 were playing that wouldn't be true.)

Pittsburgh (It is a rivalry game, so an upset is plausible...but I got burned taking Syracuse over a ranked North Carolina squad. I'm not making that mistake against Pitt, even they are weaker overall than North Carolina)

Western Kentucky (I didn't even realize Liberty was an FBS school)

Tulane (I guess Navy's probably a better team, but they were horrible against BYU, while at least Tulane got the win against South Alabama.)

Duke (Duke didn't look particularly good against Notre Dame, but the Fighting Irish are probably going to do that to everyone in the conference that isn't Clemson. Meanwhile Boston College didn't play last week and has to go on the road. Even without fans, that's a tough proposition.)

Baylor (The Bears aren't the best in the Big Twelve, but they are a stronger team than Houston)

Appalachian State (Marshall may have crushed Eastern Kentucky, but Appalachian State is a stronger team. I could see them moving from the Sun Belt to the AAC in the future)

Texas-San Antonio (It's probably just bias from their victory over Duke last year, but I think Stephen F. Austin is a much better Basketball program)

UCF (Wouldn't it be something if this was the year UCF made a College Football Playoff? Think about it. The Big Ten isn't participating. The Pac-12 isn't participating. There's a door there for them...or someone else. That said, Georgia Tech will be a more formidable opponent than their past non-conference foes. They did just beat Florida State...)

Florida Atlantic (I'm not impressed by Georgia Southern's close win over Campbell)

Troy (Big Rivalry game, but Troy goes into Murfreesboro and takes this one)

SMU (Another rivalry game, but SMU is better than the Mean Green)

Arkansas State (I don't whether I should be disappointed in the loss of the Paint Bucket Bowl to Memphis or the upset win over Kansas State, but there's no way the Red Wolves are losing to an FCS squad)

Miami(FL) (On the one hand, Miami's win over UAB was more impressive to me than Louisville's win over Western Kentucky. On the other hand, Louisville is at home... This, to me is the only real coin toss this week, and I feel Miami is the better pick)

Louisiana Tech (Another rivalry game where anything can happen. However, I can't let go of Southern Miss's loss to South Alabama, a clearly weaker team)

Louisiana-Monroe (I would have been fine with this game not being on the board at all, as both teams are horrible by FBS standards this year)

Wake Forest (On the one hand, Wake Forest got crushed by Clemson...but Clemson does that to everyone. On the other hand, NC State is at home. On the third hand, it's a rivalry game, so anything can happen. I think Wake Forest is the better team, but these are two of the bottom-feeders in the ACC)

Abilene Christian (UTEP is one of the few FBS programs that could regularly lose to an FCS team)
