Houston-North Texas and Tulsa-Arkansas State have been canceled

I believe that makes Houston 0 for 4, doesn't it?
0 for 5 by my count — Rice and Wazzu canceled on them, and then both the Memphis game and the Baylor game they scheduled to replace it both ended up canceled.

Oh, that's right -- I forgot they had two canceled for the same weekend. Smiley

I'm getting the feeling there's not going to be a lot of separation this week.

Louisiana barely escapes Georgia Southern with a 53-yard FG on the final play to win 20-18.  Elsewhere, Oklahoma and Kansas State are tied at 35 with 6 minutes left (and KSU has the ball and is driving).

I think everyone picked Oklahoma.

Anyways. There goes the Big Twelve's chances of getting into the playoff.

Why is it when I pick an upset, I'm wrong, but when I don't pick an upset, I'm also wrong?

Yes, everyone picked Oklahoma; also Florida, Auburn, UCF, LSU, Texas, Georgia, BC, Baylor, and Va. Tech.  We must be in a herd mentality. Wink

By the way, still looks like there will be an upset in Fayetteville.

Closing in on Halftime, Arkansas leads #4 Georgia 7-2, and is currently outgaining Georgia 123-113, has one more First Down...

Georgia was a 28 point favorite coming into this game.

7-5 at the half.

Georgia has gone from trailing 10-5 to leading 34-10, still 11 minutes left in the game.  They might cover the spread after all.

They might have to play five ranked opponents in a row over the next few weeks (Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, Florida). No way they win all of those games.

Let's worry about them one at a time. Smiley

The Big 12 might want to reconsider its decision to play this year.

Also, Texas State is leading Boston College 14-7 at the half.

I think we all picked Boston College (I know I did.)

WEEK 4 RESULTS

A big logjam this week, with a four-way tie for first and four more people a game behind.  Three games were postponed: Notre Dame-Wake Forest, Tulsa-Arkansas State, and North Texas-Houson.  If these come back in a future week you'll need to pick them again.

This week's results (22 games played):

18 Dereich, Donerail, GeorgiaModerate, Illiniwek
17 dfw, ExtremeRepublican, JGibson, NY Express
16 Dingo Joe

Donerail has shared first place every week so far.

There were ten unanimous picks: Oklahoma, Florida, Auburn, UCF, LSU, Texas, Georgia, BC, Baylor, and Virginia Tech.  Oklahoma and LSU were wrong.

The following games had a single dissenter; the dissenter was wrong on all of them except Iowa State.

Louisiana-Georgia Southern
TCU-Iowa State
Cincinnati-Army
Virginia-Duke
Oklahoma State-West Virginia
Miami-Florida State
BYU-Troy

Year to date standings (60 games):

48 Donerail
46 ExtremeRepublican
44 Dingo Joe, Dereich, Illiniwek
42 dfw
41 GeorgiaModerate
40 NY Express
38 JGibson

Finally, honorable mention to non-player Harry for predicting Mississippi State over LSU.  Which brings up...

Don't look now, but Mississippi State leads LSU 17-14 and has outgained them 281-120 so far.

If you get this one right and the rest of us get this wrong I think I'll jump off the roof of my apartment.

NYE, I enjoy reading your annotations of your picks.  BTW, you left out Missouri-Tennessee.

That TCU-Texas game ending was both epic and almost killed me at the same time.

For those who weren't watching, Texas got all the way down to the TCU 1 with around 2:30 left and them fumbled it to TCU at the TCU 1. TCU managed to get a 1st down after Texas burned 2 time outs. It was 4th down and 6 with 6 seconds left, so Gary Patterson decided to just try and run the clock out and not even give it back to Texas. The QB Duggan kept running backwards and it resulted in a safety with 0 seconds left. However, a flag (offensive holding) was called with 1 second left, which resulted in chaos. It ended up being that the flag did not carry over, so the game ended 33-31 TCU Cheesy

It took four years, but I finally made an upset pick that actually panned out in my favor.

Meanwhile, NC State upset #24 Pittsburgh 30-29.

In terms of in progress games... SMU leads #25 Memphis 24-3, #12 North Carolina is up on Boston College 14-13, and #2 Alabama is struggling early against #14 Texas A&M. The Crimson Tide lead by a 21-14 margin. All three of those games are in the Second Quarter.

Memphis looked like they were going to get blown out, but they flipped a switch and have now tied it at 27 late in the third quarter.

In a week of upsets, dfwlibertylover and I tied for first at 17-7.  (The fact that we run the game is entirely a coincidence.)  The South Alabama-Troy game was postponed; if it comes back in a later week, you'll need to repick it.

And five games with one dissenter (the dissenter was wrong in all of them):

Tennessee-Missouri
Georgia State-East Carolina

62 Donerail
61 ExtremeRepublican

Coastal Carolina-Louisiana has been moved to next Wednesday night -- not due to COVID, but because of the impending arrival of Hurricane Delta in southwestern Louisiana.  I'll post the standings on Sunday morning as usual.

The SEC has become the Big 12 in terms of scoring.  LSU leads Missouri 41-38 and Texas A&M leads Florida 31-28, both early in the 4th quarter.

Down goes Florida, 41-38!  Congrats to JGibson, who was the only one to pick A&M.  Mizzou leads LSU 45-41, 3+ minutes left.

What a finish!  LSU had 1st and goal at the 1 with under a minute to go, but Mizzou pulled off an epic goal-line stand to hold on for the 45-41 win.
