Actually, now that I think about it, why can't our first game be September 7 (BYU @ Navy)?

Why can't it be September 4 (South Alabama @ Southern Miss)?

Just saw that after Southern Miss lost the game, the coach quit.

Paul Finebaum is floating Hugh Freeze for the USM job, and given the Falwell and Blexit scandals at Liberty he'd probably want out even if it pays less than Liberty.  Still, the thought of Freeze, Leach and Kiffin in state at the same time is hilarious.

That sounds like the name of a law firm. Smiley

TBF, plenty of pro sports players (who are also mostly young men, but obviously generally with more professionalism than college kids) have gotten COVID, too. There is an element of it being an occupational hazard if you're playing right now.

I agree because contact with others is a part of practices and games.  But getting on a party bus is completely unnecessary and avoidable, and that's the part I'm calling dumb.

You must be very bored.

No, I'm watching Louisiana-Iowa State, which is actually a pretty good game!

Louisiana, which nobody picked, has this game wrapped up (31-14 with 10 seconds left).

The Big 12 isn't having a great day.  Arkansas State just won at Kansas State.

I picked Ark St.  not because I thought they'd win, but i wanted to pick Kansas and didn't believe the football gods would let both Kansas teams win on the same weekend.

It was a good choice, as you were the only one to pick them. Smiley

Texas State, down 41-35 with 30 seconds left, ran back a punt 91 yards for a TD -- and then missed the extra point.  Going to OT tied at 41.

UTSA wins in 20T.  Your Campbell pick almost worked.  They scored with 15 seconds left and instead of taking it into OT, they went for 2 and came up short.

Yep.  Can't fault their decision; I always like it when a team goes for it at the end of a game.

Texas State not only missed the PAT after that late TD, they also missed a short FG in the 2nd OT (and lost by a FG).  I suspect they'll be trying out kickers this week.

FIRST WEEK RESULTS

Note: 3 of the 23 games were postponed (SMU-TCU, Louisiana Tech-Baylor, and Tulsa-Oklahoma State).  If you picked these games and they come up in a later week, you'll need to pick them again; the old ones won't carry over.

There was a three-way tie for first with excellent 17-3 scores.  The full results:

17: Dingo Joe, Donerail, Illiniwek
16: Dereich, Extreme Republican
15: dfwlibertylover
13: GeorgiaModerate, JGibson, New York Express

If you think I made an error in your score, let me know and I'll recheck.

There were 10 unanimous picks; Iowa State and Florida State were wrong.

Miami-UAB
Iowa State-Louisiana
West Virginia-Eastern Kentucky
Appalachian State-Charlotte
Notre Dame-Duke
Florida State-Georgia Tech (one person forgot to pick this)
Pitt-Austin Peay
Oklahoma-Missouri State
Clemson-Wake Forest
Texas-UTEP

The following games each had a single dissenter.  Arkansas State was the only correct loner pick (by Dingo Joe).

North Carolina-Syracuse
USF-Citadel
Kansas State-Arkansas State
Tulane-South Alabama (sigh)
Louisville-Western Kentucky
Texas Tech-Houston Baptist

Starting next week, I'll add the year-to-date standings.

Houston-Baylor postponed:

Houston's now had games with two different opponents canceled for the same weekend.  That must be an all-time record. Smiley

Congrats to 'Lib of the Year' Mike Gundy trailing Tulsa at the Half to Tulsa

I've watched a bit of it.  They both look awful.

Possible upset in Atlanta.

Louisana Rajun Cajun's currently tied with Georgia State at 28 midway through the the fourth quarter.

Going to OT now.

Elsewhere, Navy came back from being down 24-0 at halftime to beat Tulane 27-24.

Miami's kicker is impressive.  He just nailed a 56-yard FG with at least 10 yards to spare.

WEEK 3 RESULTS

First place was a tie between Donerail (for the second week in a row) and ExtremeRepublican at 13-4.

Three games were postponed: Houston-Baylor, FAU-Georgia Southern, and Central Arkansas-Arkansas State.  If these come up in a later week you'll need to pick them again (your old picks won't carry over).

This week's results (17 games total):

13 Donerail, ExtremeRepublican
11 DINGO Joe
10 Dereich, dfw, GeorgiaModerate, NY Express
9 Illiniwek
8 JGibson

If you think your score is in error, let me know and I'll recheck.

Unanimous picks:

Coastal Carolina-Campbell
Oklahoma State-Tulsa
Louisiana-Georgia State
Pitt-Syracuse
Duke-Boston College (wrong)
UTSA-Stephen F. Austin
UCF-Georgia Tech

There were two games with a single dissenter, Western Kentucky-Liberty and Tulane-Navy.  The dissenter was right in both of them!

Year to date standings (38 games):

30 Donerail
29 ExtremeRepublican
28 DINGO Joe
26 Dereich, Illiniwek
25 dfw
23 GeorgiaModerate, NY Express
21 Jgibson

Houston-North Texas and Tulsa-Arkansas State have been canceled

I believe that makes Houston 0 for 4, doesn't it?
