Congrats to 'Lib of the Year' Mike Gundy trailing Tulsa at the Half to Tulsa

I've watched a bit of it.  They both look awful.

Going to OT now.

Elsewhere, Navy came back from being down 24-0 at halftime to beat Tulane 27-24.

first ranked matchup of the season is.... #17 Miami (FL) @ #18 Louisville (probably only a ranked matchup because big ten and pac 12 weren't included)

I think Miami's win over UAB is enough to have them in the rankings, though with the Big Ten and Pac-12 involved I'd have them somewhere in the 23-25 range. Honestly, Louisville's win over Western Kentucky is about the same quality to me. Good enough to get them into the rankings, but if the Big Ten and Pac-12 were playing they'd be in the 22-25 range.

Miami's kicker is impressive.  He just nailed a 56-yard FG with at least 10 yards to spare.

WEEK 3 RESULTS

First place was a tie between Donerail (for the second week in a row) and ExtremeRepublican at 13-4.

Three games were postponed: Houston-Baylor, FAU-Georgia Southern, and Central Arkansas-Arkansas State.  If these come up in a later week you'll need to pick them again (your old picks won't carry over).

This week's results (17 games total):

13 Donerail, ExtremeRepublican
11 DINGO Joe
10 Dereich, dfw, GeorgiaModerate, NY Express
9 Illiniwek
8 JGibson

If you think your score is in error, let me know and I'll recheck.

Unanimous picks:

Coastal Carolina-Campbell
Oklahoma State-Tulsa
Louisiana-Georgia State
Pitt-Syracuse
Duke-Boston College (wrong)
UTSA-Stephen F. Austin
UCF-Georgia Tech

There were two games with a single dissenter, Western Kentucky-Liberty and Tulane-Navy.  The dissenter was right in both of them!

Year to date standings (38 games):

30 Donerail
29 ExtremeRepublican
28 DINGO Joe
26 Dereich, Illiniwek
25 dfw
23 GeorgiaModerate, NY Express
21 Jgibson

Oklahoma (to be fair, flattening Missouri State isn't much of a warmup, but Kansas state just embarrassed themselves with their loss to Arkansas State two weeks ago)

Florida (Lane Kiffin is a very good coach, and Ole Miss should end up bowl eligible, but Ole Miss just doesn't have talent to beat Florida, even at home)

Notre Dame (Wake Forest came very close against NC State, however Notre Dame is a huge step up in quality)

Auburn (Basically a tossup in my book, however, I'm taking Auburn based on their being at home)

UCF (With the Big Ten beginning play soon, I'm not sure there's a path for UCF to make the playoff any longer. They should still go unbeaten until their bowl game though)

Lousiana (The Rajun Cajun's got very lucky against Georgia State. Once again however, they should win this one easily)

Pittsburgh (Louisville lost to Miami last week, while Pitt defeated Syracuse. I'm taking the hot team in this one, though I do think this is basically a tossup)

Syracuse (luckily for Dino Babers and Syracuse, Georgia Tech will be much easier than both Miami and North Carolina were)

Liberty (I cannot believe that I am picking Liberty to win a football game)

TCU (Iowa State's actually not that bad, but I simply can't overlook the loss to Lousiana, a Sun Belt team of all things. Expect a sloppy, poorly played game, especially since TCU hasn't played yet this season)

LSU (It is a rivalry game, but until the Alabama game on November 14, LSU remains the class of the SEC.)

Texas (Texas Tech barely escaped against Houston Baptist, so I expect the Longhorns to win by at least 35.)

Army (If Army wins this one, it's smooth sailing until the Army/Navy game for them. Could you see an undefeated Army, with a victory over a ranked Cincinnati team in the College Football Playoff?)

West Virginia (Oklahoma State barely escaped against an inferior Tulsa team. I have doubts about their ability to defeat Kansas State)

UTEP (I don't know how UTEP is 2-1, but they might go 3-1 here)

Tulsa (Both Tulsa and Arkansas State have impressed me this season, but I think Tulsa's close loss to a ranked Oklahoma State is more impressive than Arkansas State's victory over Kansas State)

Georgia (Arkansas is nowhere near good enough to defeat the toughest team in the SEC East)

Virginia (While Virginia hasn't played yet, Duke hasn't looked good at all this season)

Boston College (Boston College impressed me with their victory over Duke)

Houston (Houston wins, and wins easily, as North Texas cannot play defense at all)

Miami (FL) (It is a rivalry game, so I guess an upset is possible, but Florida State hasn't been good for several years. Miami should win this easily)

South Carolina (My "Upset Special". South Carolina isn't a particularly bad team, and I think Tennessee is a bit overrated.)

Baylor (So Kansas beat a random Sun Belt team...whoop dee doo. Baylor is still better than they are and should win this game)

Virginia Tech (Sure, NC State beat Wake Forest, but the Hokies are another step up in skill level)

BYU (BYU is better than Troy but not by much. Once Big Ten teams start playing and if Pac 12 teams start playing, BYU will drop out of the rankings.)

0 for 5 by my count — Rice and Wazzu canceled on them, and then both the Memphis game and the Baylor game they scheduled to replace it both ended up canceled.

Oh, that's right -- I forgot they had two canceled for the same weekend. Smiley

BYU offensive lineman Tristen Hoge is being treated for pneumonia after contracting COVID earlier this month.  He was one of several BYU players that tested positive after the Navy game.  After he was cleared to resume playing, he came back for one practice and didn't feel well after.
