A parking garage in the Frankfurt suburb of Hanau has added diversity spaces for LGBTQ individuals and migrants

Quote
An underground German parking garage unveiled "diversity" spaces reserved for migrants and LGBTQ drivers, according to media reports.

Hanauer Parkhaus GmbH built three spots in the structure in Hanau, just outside of Frankfurt, the Daily Mail reported.

Thomas Morlock, chairman of the HPG supervisory board HPG and a city official, said the goal of the parking spaces is to help those who feel a need for "a special need for protection."

The wall facing the spaces are painted with rainbow colors with Vielfalt Parkplätze", or diversity spaces.

There's been outrage in Germany after a Neo-Nazi was reburied in an empty grave in a Jewish Cemetery.

Quote
Germany's Protestant Church and other authorities have condemned the reuse of the vacant burial plot of a Jewish music professor for a neo-Nazi.

The remains of Prof Max Friedlaender were moved to another site in 1980, but a tombstone still commemorates him at the cemetery outside Berlin.

A Holocaust denier was buried there on Friday after the grave's reuse was approved.

The local bishop called it "a terrible mistake".

Bishop Christian Stäblein visited the site on Tuesday.

The burial plot is in one of Germany's largest Protestant cemeteries, in Stahnsdorf near Potsdam.

Prof Friedlaender, who died in 1934, was from a Jewish family but was a member of the Protestant Church. He was a bass singer and musicologist who specialised in the songs of Franz Schubert.

German media report that Henry Hafenmayer, the man now buried in the plot in Stahnsdorf, was a Holocaust denier and blogger linked to several neo-Nazi groups.

Neo-Nazi supporters laid wreaths on the grave, with nationalist messages and ribbons adorned with the Nazi-era iron cross symbol. They placed a portrait of Hafenmayer in front of Prof Friedlaender's shrouded tombstone.

Anti-Semitism prevailing and pervasive in the SED stronghold of Leipzig:

There are far more Muslim and Antifa Anti-Semites in Germany than there are Nazi Anti-Semites.

It has just turned out that Gil Ofarim seems to be Germany's Jussie Smollett.

Aside from the fact that we don't know the political affiliation of the offender, the Left came in fourth in Leipzig with 13.7% of the second vote (/party list vote), almost tied with the AfD which got 13.3%.

Yes, the Left won the direct seat in Leipzig II  - as opposed to Leipzig I which went to the CDU with the Left again coming in fourth, this time behind the AfD candidate. Considering that out of 455.000 residents who were eligble to vote in either district a combined 66.000 voted for one of these two Left direct candidates there's about a 85% probability that the offender was either a SPD/CDU/Green/AfD/FDP/other party voter or didn't cast a vote at all in the recent election.

I just wanted to post an opposing view to all that disgusting agitation against Saxony. Many Twitter trolls said that that (faked) incident were foreseeable as they tax all Saxons with anti-Semitism. Applying that logic, the hotel employee could as well be an anti-Semitic Antifa member, as Leipzig is possibly the Antifa stronghold of Germany. Oh, btw, before I forget it: According to eyewitness accounts, that said hotel employee is reported to be a Persian, a medially ignored fact by which the whole incident would have taken an unexpected U-turn...

Hanau isn't a suburb of Frankfurt.  Frankfurt has no suburbs.

Also, un-ironically supporting the FDP is the quickest way to lose friends in both Mainz (SPD) and Wiesbaden (CDU).  Trust me.  I tried.   LOL

Police say they've stopped a group of armed far-right vigilantes on the Polish border near Guben.

Quote
German police say they have stopped more than 50 far-right vigilantes armed with pepper spray, a bayonet, a machete and batons who were trying to patrol the Polish border to stop migrants entering the country.

The vigilantes were following a call by the Third Way, a far-right party with suspected links to neo-Nazi groups, for its members to stop illegal crossings near the town of Guben.

Police seized the weapons and made the suspects leave the area late on Saturday and in the early hours of Sunday, a spokesperson said. They had travelled to the Polish border from across Germany.

As he has been diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic that latter part is unlikely to happen though. At present he's confined to a psychiatric institution.

An Anti-vaxxer plot to kill the Governor of Saxony has been foiled.

Quote
German police confiscated weapons during raids in the eastern cities of Dresden and Heidenau on Wednesday in connection with an alleged plot by radical anti-vaccination activists to kill Saxony's governor.

Members of a group calling itself "Dresden Offlinevernetzung," or Dresden offline network, had discussed killing state premier Michael Kretschmer on the online platform Telegram, according to police.

Both Dresden and the nearby small town of Heidenau are located in the country's state of Saxony, which was once part of communist East Germany. The region has among the lowest vaccine rates and highest number of COVID-19 infections in the country.

Police said they targeted five members of the Telegram group and that after searches of the sites "the initial suspicion was confirmed."

A spokesman for the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) Saxony said five residences and one workplace were searched and that police confiscated weapons, parts of weapons and crossbows, according to Süddeutsche Zeitung.

Thanks for adding this.

I just hope they get a very strong punishment and the federal government takes on Telegram messanger much more agressively.

Hope Kretschmer will be alright. I actually like him, despite being a CDU member.

Berlin's governing mayor Michael Müller and a couple of other politicians have also recently received death threats from the anti-vaxxer scene, consisting of pieces of raw meat and the warning that a general vaccination mandate will result in "bloody resistance". Authorities are investigating.

Who would have guessed that the fight against Corona would degenerate into sort of a War on Terror?

An off-duty police officer who attended an anti-lockdown/anti-vaxxer rally in Saxony has physically assaulted other police officers who were on duty there. He has been suspended and placed under arrest.

https://globeecho.com/news/europe/germany/fdp-implements-a-swap-the-union-must-next-to-the-afd/
FDP swaps with CDU to avoid being next to AFD.

IMO the bundestag should be a circle to put AFD and Die Linke next to each other.

To follow up on that a bit, a staff sergeant in the German Army has been arrested after posting a video online in which he had set the German government an ultimatum until which COVID restrictions and the vaccination mandate for military members had to be discontinued.

On a somewhat lighter note, Merkel's former economics minister Peter Altmaier (CDU) probably has the best drunken New Year's Eve tweets. The incorrectly spelled Böllerverkaufsvefbot Böllerverkaufsverbot refers to a COVID-related ban on the selling of fireworks around here. This is the spirit of covfefe:

Ah, Peter Altmaier, our very own version of Chuck Grassley on Twitter, with the ultimate highlight being:

"Peter Altmaier on his way. Any minute I am there. The others shall start with the slaughter already!"

Angela Merkel has rejected a job offer at the UN:

Merkel also refuses to become honorary chairwoman of CDU: https://m.tagesspiegel.de/politik/eine-tradition-von-frueher-angela-merkel-verzichtet-auf-cdu-ehrenvorsitz/27996522.html

Before her, all former CDU chancellors had become honorary chairmen, and the CSU currently has three of them (former proper party chairs Stoiber, Waigel, and Seehofer).

I wonder when Merkel will leave the CDU altogether. Cheesy

Looks like the SPD will introduce a proposal to raise the minimum wage to 12€/hour from October 1st, based on a draft law seen.

The minimum wage is currently 9.62€ per hour and will auto-adjust to 10.45€ per hour on July 1st. The auto-adjust will continue going forward, but first there will be a 15 month pause until January 2024
