My thanks to the speaker.

This legislation would prohibit localities from imposing curfew orders, by which otherwise law-abiding citizens may be arrested for being outside after a given hour. Such arbitrary measures do not increase the security of our communities, but rather serve as a pretext for the indiscriminate arrest of peaceful individuals engaged in lawful activities by overzealous police. The focus of our law enforcement divisions should be the pursuit and arrest of criminals, not old ladies out late walking their dogs.

Thanks to Truman for introducing this. We banned these freedom-restricting laws in the South and I hope Fremont follows.

While they didn't happen in-game, the 1:00 PM curfews in parts of the L.A. area were absurd -- a perfect illustration of how these laws are abused to punish demonstrators and vulnerable populations. This is a great bill, and I will support it in full.

I mean, I'd support curfews in extraordinary situations, but it's literally impossible to enforce without racial profiling working its way in. I'll back this bill.
