I just checked the Douglas County Elections site, and further results released today show Danny Tarkanian taking the lead in the County Commissioner District 1 race. His lead is only by a handful of votes, but it looks like he may be on his way to finally winning an election, having lost 6 previous races.

The county still has to count provisional ballots, so the results could change given the close margin, but thought this would be interesting to post nonetheless.

Tarkanian is up by 12 votes, and the County Clerk said the Secretary of State's Office still needs to verify the eligibility of 19 provisional ballots. County officials will submit their final tally to the state on Friday.

Candidates have until June 24th to request a recount (that the candidate must pay for), and Tarkanian's opponent said he will request a recount if the margin remains within 20 votes.

Update: Final unofficial results have Tarkanian winning by 17 votes. Barring a change of results in a recount, it looks like Tarkanian has won an election for the first time.
