Def Cotton, Cruz did not do bad among hispanics in 2018 and he isn’t somebody that would openly oppose GOP criminal justice reform like Cotton does

None of the Rs will get Minority support without a 3rd party candidate like Amash or Gary Johnson to win the Prez after Trump selected Gorsuch, the worst SCOTUS nominee in history

Trump and Bush W got in due to Nadar and Gary Johnson,  but at least Bush W was a compromiser, the current R party since 2010, only wants its tax cuts and Obamcare repeal

DeSantis seems like the obvious pick here

Most distrusted might be Tucker Carlson if his campaign is like his current commentary, but some ex-Governor or Cabinet official who operated in an especially racist way would probably do worse. Two things to remember with Trump is that the minority vote still trended Republican at the last election and that much of the animosity did not stem directly from his abrasive statements but from the dangers they implied combined with his history as a pretty racist landlord. He had a bad record.

Almost all of them.  Minorities aren't going to be OK with Republican policies and voter suppression just because the next candidate is less appalling than Donald Trump.  See George W. Bush for more.

Dubya was in the 40-50% range with Hispanics and managed double digits with black voters in 2004, which is better than most contemporary Republicans (meaningfully reducing margins matters - see most incumbent Democrats in rural states for reference). IIRC, Republicans also did a lot better with Asian voters in his runs than they have recently.

That's why I am consistently saying Republicans need to nominate either a Woman or a Minority Candidate like Nikki Haley, Marco Rubio or John James, Jeanette Nunez down the Road.

Even Nikki Haley, the woman who pulled down the Confederate flag?

People of color aren't mindless idiots who will suddenly start voting Republican just because they nominate a minority or woman.

Nikki Haley could certainly pull away white suburbanites who deem her 'acceptable' but she would not win significant minority support.

Carlson.

He constantly dogwhistles on his show. Just look at the segment he did on Omar and Duckworth tonight.

No one is talking about the GOP, like, winning outright pluralities of ANY minority group ... but there are no doubt conservative minorities that are still voting Democratic purely out of a belief that the GOP is hostile to minorities in general, and a face of the Republican Party that is LESS outwardly (seemingly) hostile toward minorities would certainly improve with those voters.

Frankly, it's kind of paternally racist to assume otherwise ... there is as much ideological diversity among Black and Hispanic Americans as there is among White Americans, even if they are both currently finding themselves overwhelmingly loyal to one party.
