I think ~38% of Democrats voted for Nixon in 1972, so I’m curious about Republicans in 1964.

According to Gallup, 20%. But that's probably low. In the Northeast, probably more than 1/3 and Plains states, about 25-30%.

Gallup claims it was 33%. Of course the vast majority of the U.S. public were registered as Democrats in those years.
