Sparks probably could win the primary, but it would be a bruising battle, and in any event, Alabama wouldn't flip in 2008 against Jeff Sessions.

Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks 51%
State Senator Vivian Davis Figures 40%
Army Veteran Mark Swanson 8%
2002 Gubernatorial Candidate Mark Townsend 1%

General Election:

Jeff Sessions (R) 57%
Ron Sparks (D) 43%
