The entire Massive Attack discography during this lockdown, from Blue Lines to Helgioland.

So good, mang.

I'm giving Thievery Corporation's The Mirror Conspiracy a re-listen.

S-tier.

Fun factoid of the day:  I actually saw the Asian dude in front of Lucky Bar in Dupont Circle late one night, chatting with some chick.   I hope he didn't go in.  Dude-bro establishments don't seem his thing.

Controversial opinion: Zooropa was U2's best album. And easily best album cover.

Sizzling hot take:

Pop was by far their most experimental, despite it's ironic title (and my personal favorite).

Session Victim.  An awesome House/downtempo duo out of Germany I just discovered and who I can't believe I've never heard of before.   Lots of chill bangers.

99% of all Jimi Hendrix covers are trash (including all those mayo'ed-down Stevie Ray Vaughn covers), but hot damn, the Cure really nailed it with "Foxey Lady".

Recorded in '79, when the Cure were still very much English punkers, before they discovered synthesizers.

Aren't you like a Serb or something?  Not what I expected.  I spent 18 months in the Balkans as part of KFOR.

I was expecting Turkish/Arabic grooves (just as long as they aren't dirty Albanian).

Ash Walker.

I shouldn't really even be posting this.  You people simply can't handle this much soul.

There was never filler on that album.

"Soon", "Only Shallow", and "When You Sleep" are the GOATs.

Frankfurt nights and Wiesbaden mornings...

I'm reluctant to share such grooves.

Because you people simply can't handle this much soul.

A lot of Björk. I don't think anyone is in the same class in terms of evoking both gender dysphoria and euphoria, deep contented passion and loss, the sort of aimless wilderness this epoch of my life is and yet what lies behind and ahead. And it's easy to "go through all this before you wake up" when you're typically awake for pretty much the entire time someone you care about is sleeping.

"Venus as a Boy."

Excellent Björk track....probably my favorite.

Whatever happened to that Brad Pitt/Jeff Buckley biopic?

I'm actually relieved that never happened.

Greatest love song of all time:

EuroHouse beats + Serge Gainsbourg.

What's not to like?

Y'all read the Henrik Ibsen plays in your Global lit classes in college.

But I alone will give you the soundtracks bro:

The goddamn tits.

The original 1985 recording is also the goddamn tits (and the cowbell is more pronounced).
