Since we're nearly halfway through 2020 already (can you believe it: time really does fly!) I just wanted to post everybody this question  -  what will 2021   look like, for you and those people around you ?

We finally remember the value in building quality social institutions & lose our obsession with status. We stop commuting to work, rebuild the forests, replace lawns with gardens, slow the f**k down, & use all resources as mindfully & efficiently as possible. We stop having so many kids & take better care of the ones we do have. We feed the world & experience a spiritual awakening before finding out that the Mormons were actually correct about reality & 99% of humanity is going to hell for drinking coffee. Then Rod Serling delivers his outro because we were always an episode of The Twilight Zone, except the "outside" credits roll once it's established the reality watching us is headed down our same path because we were actually an episode of something like Black Mirror or The Outer Limits featuring The Twilight Zone in a meta-simulation.

It will either be a year where hope cautiously starts returning to the country or the point where all is truly lost. You know what I'm talking about.

If my predictions are correct (which would be unusual), 2021 will definitely be a year of recovery.
For America, 2020 will simply be a horrific year. The economy will continue to plummet, the Covid-19 pandemic will kill over 500,000 by the end of the year, and social unrest will occur with these two (although not as bad as now)
Biden will win by a convincing margin (the Atlas takes will be hilarious) and the House will see R’s gain only net 5-7 seats while the Senate is probably 50-50.

2021 will be better simply because 2020 is absolute ****.
The economy will very slowly recover, the Covid vaccine will finally be widely distributed in the Spring (ending the disease in America) and a sense of normalcy will return. Many problems will still remain, and the US will need to continue to reform.
Socially, expect working from home to remain prevalent as it’s easier for a number of businesses for certain jobs. Expect popular culture to definitely become more even cynical/dark, and a number of minor technological advances.

On a geopolitical level, America will continue to fall in influence, no matter how good our recovery is. 2020 was our one final chance to hold our standing and we blew it.

Although things will seem to be getting better, we will be a far more jaded and pessimistic society as a whole. American optimism (a pretty big part of our culture right now) will certainly change. 2020 will never be forgotten in our minds.

All I know is that my gut instinct tells me it will be a year to remember for dank memes.

I'm not sure. Biden will be president, I'm pretty sure. Perhaps the media will push a narrative of "things are getting better after Trump!" and that'll get views. Perhaps the extreme narratives of the past few years will remain. In terms of meaningful differences, the economy will continue to have issues which will go unaddressed. Maybe another war will come up.

Some new liberal government programs will be passed, maybe - and they will be ineffective. Idpol type stuff will only further grow in significance in public life.

In terms of natural disasters and whatnot, I'd be shocked if 2021 can top a pandemic and race riots.

Unfortunately,  for sports, unless there is a vaccine, they will still be empty stadiums and empty memorabilia sports shops and empty bars

Just as bad as 2020. The pandemic will last for many years to come.

If Biden beats Trump by a double-digit landslide, thereby making clear to the world -and ourselves- our repudiation of Donald Trump and everything he represents, and Democrats not only hold the House but also gain a significant majority in the Senate (not to mention down-ballot coat-tails at the state level), next year will be a time of renewal and rebuilding.

Biden will announce trans allowed back into the military and then dab, then get eviscerated in the media for dabbing.
