Imagine you were "middle class". You were in the top 10% but not in the top 1% (in the remaining 9%).

In which city would you like to live in the turn of the 20th century?

Rome, warm weather is the only climate I want to live in, that's why I escaped the cold in Illinois

London was just filthy in this time, yes?  I can't imagine Vienna being as dirty as I assume London was, what about Paris and Berlin?  I think I remember reading that most German industry was in the west, so maybe Berlin is cleaner than London?

lean Vienna I guess

Paris, the Belle Epoque was still going on and i'd have loved to have visited the Moulin Rouge.

They dont really speak English in Paris, but in Rome, since the Pope is there, English is Universal in Italy and Italian and Spanish and Portugese are easiest to learn than French. The words have Greek ancestors like English does. Rome is the place to be, particularly,  Sicily, since FL is modeled by Italy and Sicily itself, from the boot

Berlin. My great-grandfather was an eye doctor (and later WWI soldier) working in Wilhelmine Germany, so it would be cool to be able to visit him. Also, Germany was one of the more tolerant countries toward Jews at the time (unlike a few decades later).

Yes, this is the source of the The Golden Girls quote likening Florida to Sicily. I agree on Sicily, Rome
