Steve King lost his primary and will not be in Congress anymore. How do you feel about this situation?

The only thing I'm sad about is that this seat is no longer competitive without King.

Somewhat sad. If he were the nominee, this would drag down Ernst. Plus, Feenstra's no less racist than King; the only reason he was running against King was to bring back IA-04's committee assignments. Unlike what Cenk Uygur says, JD Scholten does not have an "excellent" chance of winning.

I'm a normal person who doesn't want vocal white supremacists in Congress, so I'm the opposite of sad about this. And even if Feenstra were just as racist as King, which isn't true (King is even more vile than just a generic Republican), the mere fact of a member of Congress not spouting white supremacist talking points is a good thing. It is a rejection of white supremacy and denies the true deplorables encouragement and airtime for their views. Even now, there is a line that is too far for some (perhaps most) politicians to sink below.

A little, I’d hoped he’d drag Ernst down with him. But it’s better for the country that even republican primary voters - eventually - reject this sort of thing.

Meh? Extremely happy that a white supremacist has been sent packing, disappointed that Scholten no longer has any shot.

This, but risking someone like King being in Congress for longer wouldn't have been worth it for one possible extra seat for the Blue Dogs.

King was utterly irrelevant in Congress and had no power on any committees or anything. For all intents and purposes, him holding that seat was essentially a wasted seat for Republicans. Now someone like Feenstra can cause real damage. Also it’s not as if King’s worldview is radically different from the mindset of many of the party—he’s just more candid.

Having an open neo-Nazi in Congress is still bad, even if they're not directly legislating anything. And yes, Feenstra can cause real damage, but frankly it's a drop in the bucket compared to the 434 other seats in Congress. Democrats can easily retain a majority without winning that one seat.

That said, I would say that if King had won the primary and lost the general, that would have been a better result than what we got.

In the last few years, I've become increasingly convinced that good government requires two not-completely-terrible, semi-functional parties. So I'm pleased with King losing, even though it probably takes one seat off the table in the general election. I might feel differently if control of the House was at stake.

I feel only joy and happiness that Steve King lost. I hope he goes far away and never has any influence on society ever again.

I am, however, sad that Randy Feenstra will likely win his seat--given that he attacked King for not being extreme ENOUGH on immigration.

unpopular opinion: I don't give a s*** it's now a safe R seat. We had a mask off racist in  congress get voted out and although I would like to see a Dem take the seat, this is amazing news

I am very happy that an open neo-Nazi and white supremacist will be out of Congress in January 2021, and I didn't think Scholten would win anyway, so King losing is definitely the best realistic outcome. While I would prefer a Democrat, it's a wet dream in this seat, and therefore, King being primaried is the best possible realistic outcome.
