I would honestly prefer the latter myself.

Examples of cases where this is an issue are Tyler County, West Virginia in the 1996 Presidential Race where a leading '1' digit was likely struck from Doles actual vote count, and Muskegon County, Michigan in the 2018 Governors Race where a trailing '0' digit was likely appended to a third party candidates actual vote count.

Currently, the system in place on atlas is to do the former.

Official results are very seldom wrong in any substantial way, and deviating from reporting official results would limit Atlas' status as an academic or historical resource.

I don't think Atlas should be in the business of proofing reported results. Given that the site is only a secondary source and Dave does not have direct access to the original tallies, this is pretty much just an intellectual exercise with tremendous potential for error.

Why not both, especially if some solid evidence exists that an error occurred?
